What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr Engineer position at Energy Transfer Partners?
Summary:
As a Sr. Engineer you will be trained in Energy Transfer Company’s Safety, Operation and Maintenance procedures
related to plant and pipeline facilities. The incumbent will provide engineering expertise to ensure safe, reliable, and
efficient operation of natural gas pipelines and compressor stations. The duties would include:
- Provide engineering design and project management for assigned projects in accordance with Company specifications,
- Prepare project cost estimates, scopes of work, and scheduling.
- Provide direction and monitor Company and third-party engineering and CAD design personnel.
- Prepare material requisitions and specifications for the purchase of material for construction projects.
- Perform technical review of vendor material quotations, engineering drawings and manufacturing specifications and
- Review preliminary drawings for neatness, completeness, and accuracy, and approve the drawings for bid and
- Prepare weekly reports on project activity, track project cost and schedule and reports results to Management.
- Review as-built drawings for compliance with Company specifications, Industry standards, and Federal regulations.
- Assist Field Operations and team personnel with engineering problems, code interpretation and questions.
- Develop Construction Bid packages and write contracts for winning bidder.
- Provides financial oversight, and revises projects to reflect changes in cost forecast exceeding approved tolerances.
- Coordinates with Specialists, Operations (Team, Managers, and Directors), Gas Control, Integrity, Planning, Marketing
- Maintain a working knowledge of applicable Federal Regulations, Company Engineering Standards and Standard
- Provide technical support for right of way permitting and acquisition including the preparation and approval of road and
way and temporary construction workspace for assigned projects.
- Analyzes outside design drawings for encroachments to Company Facilities. Works to eliminate conflicts and provides
Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The
requirements for this position are listed below:
- Qualified candidates should possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil or Electrical Engineering
- Expected to have knowledge of 49 CFR 192, ASME B31.8, API, and AGA. Industry experience in engineering, design
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and MS Projects.
- Knowledge in vendor sizing and selection programs for control valves, regulators, and relief valves, pipeline flow
programs.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Excellent analytical and organizational skills
- Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision. Able to handle multiple projects simultaneously in an
- Must be able to manage time, conflicting and changing priorities, work in a team environment and assist team members
- Deals frequently with a wide range of contacts including technical, operations, risk management, contractors, vendors,
Working Conditions:
- Usually, normal office working conditions.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
- Must be able to travel 20% of the time with an occasional overnight stay.
- Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Must reside within 45 minutes of the reporting work location.
- Must have valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
