Summary:
The Specialist – Marine Fuel Ops position plays a pivotal role as a member of our commercial operations team and acts as the primary on-site contact for assigned bunker fuel deliveries, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant operations at ports and marinas.
This role requires arriving in advance of scheduled deliveries to coordinate with vessel crews, drivers, dock personnel, and port security. The position involves outdoor work in marine environments, operating high-speed pump skids and fuel equipment, managing hose and equipment setup and breakdown, and completing all required pre- and post-delivery documentation. The Associate Specialist communicates delivery status updates to internal company teams and ensures full compliance with USCG regulations and company Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies at all times.
Core Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary contact for assigned bunker deliveries
Arrive at the vessel in advance of trucks (30 minutes prior) to coordinate with vessel staff
Work outdoor at ports and marinas, assisting drivers, operating high speed Pump Skids and fuel equipment
Coordinate and liaise with all dock personnel, port security, and vessel staff, to ensure safe and efficient deliveries
Communicate delivery updates with company personnel
Handle pre- and post-delivery paperwork
Responsible for set up and breakdown of hoses and delivery equipment
Ensure all USCG regulations and company HSE safety policies are followed
Required Skills
Bachelor's degree or higher
Demonstrated ability to work and negotiate in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
Vessel / Barge scheduling experience
Available during international business operations and be on call 24/7
Excellent interpersonal/communication skills (both written and verbal), computer skills, and analytical skills
Thrives in cross-functional team environment
Strong troubleshooting, problem solving, and decision-making skills
Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:
Associate Specialist requires a bachelor's degree and 0-2 years of relevant job experience.
Specialist level requires a bachelor’s degree and 2-5 years of relevant job related experience
Senior Specialist level requires a bachelor’s degree and 5-8 years of relevant job related experience
Lead Specialist level requires a bachelor’s degree and 8 years of relevant job related experience
Desired/Preferred Skills:
Exposure to one or more energy markets (crude oil and/or petroleum products)
Experience in Marine/Waterborne Operations or Logistics Industry
Understanding of the interaction and significance of the various aspects/elements of the refined products trading/marketing supply chain is desirable
Ability to apply a well-developed understanding of business strategies and logistics operations to achieve the business and team objectives
