A technical position responsible for the supervision of insulation and weatherization personnel in the Weatherization/Furnace Program. Coordinates with the Intake Specialist to ensure maximum productivity of the field staff. Coordinates the work of subcontractors and ensures all work is in accordance with State regulations and local building codes. Acts as an inspector for weatherization and insulation work, when required, to make sure all work meets agency standards.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervises insulation and weatherization field staff.
- Trains field staff as necessary.
- Conducts audits/estimates, etc. as necessary.
- Processes all related paperwork and ensures compliance with all appropriate Federal, state and local guidelines. Perform inspections of weatherization and insulation work as necessary.
- Performs formal reviews of all weatherization and insulation work.
- Monitors the ordering of subcontractors and coordinates subcontractor work.
- Coordinates scheduling of insulation and weatherization personnel with Intake Specialist.
- Monitors workload in work file and hours logged for specific measures and jobs for energy efficiency technicians in coordination with the Program Manager.
- Runs in-field performance audits for Energy Efficiency Technician crews.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or equivalent with
- 3 years of experience working with Federal and state funded energy conservation programs in weatherization and furnace measures.
- Candidates must pass a pre-employment drug screening.
- Candidates will be subject to a criminal background check and motor vehicle report.
- Valid Colorado driver’s license or the ability to obtain one within 2 weeks of appointment and a driving record that meets insurance liability standards.
- Must hold both BPI Energy Auditor and Quality Control Inspector Home Energy Professional certifications or be able to obtain them within 18 months of hire or promotion.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential to effectively manage, motivate, and support field teams, ensuring high performance, safety, and adherence to company protocols while demonstrating the ability to supervise employees in the field.
- Productivity minded motivating energy efficiency technicians toward production goals.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to explain the weatherization/furnace process to clients.
- Detailed working knowledge of home construction, weatherization materials and procedures, furnace operation and applicable safety and building codes.
- Thorough knowledge of CEO standards, Federal, state, and local regulations/policies and procedures pertaining to weatherization and furnace programs. Thorough knowledge of agency procedures and policies.
- Systematic knowledge of field standards and a working knowledge of the furnace tune-up methodology. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other agencies, contractors, and the public.
PREFERRED SKILLS: (Licensing/Certification)
- Strong alignment with Building science principles.
- Prior weatherization auditing experience a plus
- OSHA 10/30 and a Building Performance Institute-Retrofit Installer Technician certification a plus.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: Supervises Energy Efficiency Technicians I, II, III (Crew Leads)
TRAVEL: Travel IS required to/from service region job sites throughout Colorado in company vehicles and for other work-related job-functions as needed.
WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Standard office environment and/or field work setting as needed. Use hand and power tools (e.g., electric drill, hole saw, sawz-all) from ground level to 18" overhead. Climb a 26' ladder while carrying tools and work from the ladder, reaching 18" to the sides. Work on roofs with an 8:12 pitch. Pull yourself up 2' from a 6' ladder to enter a 15"x18" attic hatch. Lift and extend a 35 lb. bag of insulation from the ground. Crawl through a 15"x18" crawl space access hatch.
Carry and manipulate 48" perimeter insulation (35 lbs.) in a 24" crawl space. Crawl on your back for up to 60' in a 24" crawl space. Work overhead in a 24" crawl space using tools. Carry and manipulate 4'x8' sheets of plywood, drywall, or Thermax. Work in damp, dirty conditions and be exposed to extreme temperatures.
