Reports to: Director of Quality

Job Summary:

The Technical Quality Manager collaborates with our customer and internal team to continuously improve performance of products by implementing process controls and developing quality assurance plans. The Technical Quality Manager tracks data, identifies improvement projects, and manages cross functional implementation to improve performance of Energy Hardware. This role investigates and resolves quality issues by working with a cross functional team, analyzing defect trends, and leading continuous improvement projects and initiatives.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Comply with all company policies and procedures including Health, Safety and Quality Assurance policies.
  • Manage quality supervisor and inspectors’ daily activities.
  • Partner with the Purchasing team to ensure supplier performance is regularly reported and that appropriate and timely corrective actions are implemented.
  • Conduct shop audits to drive process standardization, waste elimination, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee quality system to ensure we are meeting AS9100/ISO9001 requirements. Take part in audits as needed.
  • Support customer responses for quality, materials, and compliance requests.
  • Review updated drawing revisions from customers and address any changes with existing inventory.
  • Monitor, communicate and improve key customer KPI’s, including PPM, corrective actions, and NCR’s.
  • Strategically lead process performance improvement projects in an effort to increase our capability of consistently meeting the customer’s requirements and expectations. Projects may include process analysis, value stream mapping, process capability and through-put analysis, 6-sigma, 5s, and Kaizen events.
  • Champion problem solving and root-cause analysis activities with the customer, supplier and internally to eliminate recurrence of non-conformances, initiating necessary actions as required to prevent occurrence of non-conformities relating to product, process, and quality systems.
  • Hold suppliers accountable and coordinate resolution of issues in a timely manner to ensure continuity of supply chain while identifying, recording, and measuring any issues relating to the product process and quality systems.
  • Help with supplier audits as required.
  • Support the organization with evaluation and qualification of new supplier materials.
  • Drive a “zero-defects” mind-set within the organization and in the supply chain base.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Required Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering; or a 4-year technical degree in related discipline or equivalent combination of education/experience
  • 10 years of experience in manufacturing environment of distribution/supply chain industry preferred.
  • Knowledge of quality systems methodologies
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to successfully conduct presentations.
  • Team-player who works well with diverse groups of people with the ability to function independently of direct supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask and oversee multiple projects and requests, accurately and simultaneously, with follow through to completion.
  • Strong written, oral, interpersonal, and communication skills; comfortable interfacing with all levels of employees as well as all types of customers
  • Advanced computer skills using MS Office applications including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint


Required Physical Abilities:

  • Moderate physical effort handling parts. Equivalent to frequently exerting average effort. Ability to manually load or unload materials onto or off pallets, skids, platforms, and trucks. Able to lift items weighing up 50 lbs occasionally.
  • Manual dexterity using hands, fingers, and arms to push, pull, reach, grab, hold, and lift.
  • Continuous mental and visual attention. Diversified duties requiring constant alertness or activity.
  • Comfortable working in a warehouse environment with exposure to varying temperatures and noise levels.
