Position Overview
The Sr. Project Manager plays a central role in the execution of energy efficiency, mechanical/electrical/plumbing (MEP), and performance contracting projects. This position blends construction management, subcontractor oversight, technical coordination, customer engagement, and project controls. The Project Manager ensures projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with performance, quality, and contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Project & Construction Management
- Lead customer and subcontractor construction meetings, manage expectations, document discussions, and ensure all parties remain aligned.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee project scheduling, procurement, materials delivery, subcontractor activities, and site logistics.
- Prepare project documentation including meeting minutes, subcontractor quotes, contract amendments, change requests, submittals, schedules, and compliance filings.
- Verify field installations, develop and enforce punch lists, and manage project close-out to ensure all work meets specifications.
- Ensure only approved materials and equipment are installed per design specifications and contract documents.
- Maintain clear communication with EEI management, staff, customers, subcontractors, vendors, and utility partners.
Technical & Engineering Coordination
- Support project engineering activities including review of drawings, specifications, and design intent.
- Provide field-level engineering assistance to address installation issues, resolve conflicts, and support commissioning and system startup.
- Coordinate with development and engineering teams to ensure accurate scopes of work, budgets, and schedules.
- Participate in project performance review, quality assurance, and adherence to energy conservation goals.
Safety & Compliance
- Prepare and implement Site-Specific Safety Plans and conduct regular on-site safety meetings.
- Ensure subcontractor compliance with safety requirements, permitting, and regulatory obligations.
- Prepare and submit compliance documentation to utilities, authorities having jurisdiction, and oversight agencies.
Business Development & Estimating Support
- Assist in developing cost estimates, bid packages, proposals, and supporting documentation for new project opportunities.
- Provide technical insight during client presentations and project development meetings.
- Support measurement & verification (M&V) activities and documentation when required.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Minimum OSHA 10; OSHA 30 preferred.
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, building controls, and lighting systems.
- Experience with commercial or institutional construction, energy efficiency projects, or performance contracting preferred.
- College degree preferred but not required with equivalent experience.
Skills & Competencies
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to effectively manage subcontractors, vendors, and customer relationships.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; MS Project preferred.
- Familiarity with building codes, safety practices, and industry standards.
Licenses & Credentials
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regionally.
- MA Construction Supervisor License, CEM, or related certifications a plus.
- Must be able to pass CORI/BCI and other background checks required for public-sector work.
