- Collaborate with internal staff to gather data, budgets, and program details for submissions.
- Ensure proposals meet funder requirements and deadlines.
- Maintain records of submitted proposals, outcomes, and renewal schedules.
- Revise or update proposals for resubmission or recurring funding cycles.
Qualifications
- Proven success writing and winning government and foundation grants.
- Minimum 3 years of professional grant writing experience, preferably in energy, housing, workforce, or community development sectors.
- Strong understanding of federal and state grant guidelines (DOE, HUD, DOL, LIHEAP, etc.).
- Exceptional writing, editing, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects.
- Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred.
Compensation
This is a contract position on an as-needed basis. Compensation will be determined by project scope and complexity.
Typical arrangements include:
- Hourly rate: $40 – $75/hour (depending on experience and grant type).
- Flat-rate per grant: $1,000 – $5,000 per submission, depending on length, complexity, and level of research/writing required.
- Larger federal grants may merit a hybrid model — a base hourly or flat rate plus a smaller completion bonus upon submission.
