We are hiring an Energy Efficiency Engineer at Energy 350 to join our Energy Trust of Oregon team serving the manufacturing sector in Oregon.
This team of Energy Efficiency Engineers works with industrial and agricultural customers across Oregon to identify, analyze, and verify energy savings projects while facilitating Energy Trust of Oregon incentives.
Key Details:
- Location: We are flexible on location between Portland and Medford along the I-5 corridor. This is a hybrid position between working from home, working from customer sites, and working from the office (if located in Portland area).
- Travel: Positions serve our Energy Trust of Oregon territory with up to 50% day travel to sites.
- Base Pay: Full base pay range is $85,000 - $140,000 commensurate with skills and experience. Our target hiring range is at or below mid-point to allow for growth and internal equity. All positions are eligible for an annual bonus and profit share on top of base pay.

Position Overview: The Energy Efficiency Engineer is responsible for working with commercial and industrial customers to identify projects to reduce energy usage, quantify energy savings, and facilitate utility incentives. This includes a lot of problem solving, collaboration and interaction with coworkers, customers, vendors, and clients.
A typical day may include:
- Conducting deep-dive technical energy efficiency studies of commercial and industrial mechanical systems
- Administering Energy Trust of Oregon’s Industry and Agriculture energy efficiency incentive program
- Outreaching to and engaging customers and contractors in the regional industrial community
- Working with industrial customers to scope and develop energy efficiency projects
- Performing high-level energy engineering analyses to inform customer decision-making
- Performing retrocommissioning / building controls optimization efforts
- Working with mechanical contractors to scope energy efficiency projects and communicating utility incentive program requirements
- Conducting on-site measurement and verification of energy projects
- Writing clear and concise technical reports for technical and non-technical audiences
- Supporting Strategic Energy Management (SEM) at industrial sites
Qualifications:
We are looking for people with a wide range of technical and soft skills. Our engineers are excellent communicators who can deep-dive into a technical analysis while seeing the big picture of each project.
Ideal candidates will have many of the following skills and experience:
- Engineering degree and/or great experience required
- At least 2 years’ experience in the energy efficiency or mechanical engineering field
- Working knowledge of commercial and industrial mechanical systems and building science
- Experience analyzing commercial and industrial energy systems and quantifying annual energy savings
- Experience conducting ASHRAE Level II Audits
- Ability to identify mechanical and electrical equipment in the field and explain control methods and what retrofits or changes can be implemented to conserve energy
- A high energy, self-starter with excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills
- Capability of working autonomously and collaboratively on a team, with good project and time management skills
- Excellent writing, verbal communication, and presentation skills
- Excellent Excel skills
- P.E., EIT, and/or CEM preferred
