Position Title: Software Engineer
Location: Reston, VA
Work Arrangement: 100% onsite
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, enhance, and support applications and backend services using C#, .NET, SQL Server, and Microsoft technologies.
- Build and support system plugins, extensions, and client-side functionality using JavaScript.
- Develop and maintain APIs, services, and integrations between internal systems and third-party mortgage, settlement, and financial services platforms.
- Partner with Product Managers, business stakeholders, and engineering peers to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, solution design, development, testing, deployment, documentation, and production support.
- Troubleshoot application and integration issues, identify root causes, and implement sustainable long-term solutions.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code while participating in code reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Take ownership of projects and assignments from design through deployment and ongoing support.
- Contribute to a collaborative, cross-functional team environment focused on innovation, quality, accountability, and continuous learning.
Requirements
- 3 years of professional software development experience building and supporting enterprise applications.
- Strong experience with C#, .NET, JavaScript, and SQL Server.
- Experience developing backend applications, APIs, web services, and enterprise system integrations.
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools, such as GitHub Copilot or similar technologies, to improve productivity while maintaining strong engineering standards, code quality, and security practices.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure and cloud-based application development.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot technical issues, identify root causes, and deliver effective solutions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and adapt to changing business needs in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred
- Experience within the mortgage, lending, title, settlement, or financial services industry.
- Experience developing, integrating with, or supporting the Encompass Loan Origination System (LOS).
- Experience working with third-party vendor integrations and API-driven architectures.
- Familiarity with modern software development practices including CI/CD, automated testing, and DevOps principles.
