Podiatry Medical Assistant

Position Summary
We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and detail-oriented Podiatry Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The Medical Assistant will support the podiatrist with patient care, clinical procedures, documentation, and daily office operations while providing a welcoming and professional experience for every patient.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment, demonstrates excellent communication skills, and is committed to maintaining patient safety, privacy, and quality of care.
Essential Responsibilities

• Prepare room & patients for podiatric examinations and procedures.
• Obtain and document patient medical histories, medications, allergies, vital signs, and other pertinent information.
• Assist the podiatrist with examinations, treatments, minor procedures, and wound care.
• Prepare and maintain treatment rooms, instruments, and medical supplies.
• Assist with procedures such as nail, wound care, dressing changes, and other podiatric treatments as directed.
• Perform or assist with basic clinical tasks within the scope of training and applicable regulations.
• Apply and change dressings and assist with patient instructions for post-procedure care.
• Prepare instruments for sterilization and maintain appropriate infection-control procedures.
• Document patient information accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Communicate with pharmacies, laboratories, other healthcare providers, and patients as appropriate.
• Maintain adequate inventory of clinical supplies and notify management when supplies need to be reordered.
• Follow OSHA, HIPAA, infection-control, and other applicable healthcare regulations and practice policies.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe clinical environment.
• Provide courteous and professional customer service to patients and their families.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the podiatrist or practice manager.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical Assistant certification preferred or required according to applicable state regulations.
• Previous medical assisting experience preferred; podiatry, orthopedics, wound care, or dermatology experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and basic clinical procedures.
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and medical office software.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team.
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and professionalism.

 

• Salary: $16.00 to $18.00 /hour
