The Chair of the DNP Program in the Cummings School of Nursing & Health Sciences reports to the Dean. The Chair is responsible for managing all aspects, including the daily operations, of the DNP Program, which includes supervision of full and/or part-time faculty, development of the curriculum, programming, course offerings, program evaluation, and accreditation. The Chair of the DNP program will mentor and guide full and part-time faculty and serve as an interface between faculty and administration. The Chair of the DNP program will evaluate part-time faculty annually. Student enrollment, academic progress, and retention are the responsibility of the DNP Programs Chair.

Provides academic advising and support to up to 30 students, guiding them through successful admission, progression, and completion of their graduate education programs. (40%)
- Orienting new advisees within two weeks before the start of their program
- Meeting at least monthly with advisees to enroll in new courses & check on course progress
- Sharing resources with advisees for academic success at the beginning of each course
- Collaborating monthly with the Dean to identify and coach students at risk for not continuing or failing out of a course or program
- Responding to advisee emails or phone calls within 24 hours
- In collaboration with the FNP Chair, supervises DNP/FNP students in successfully navigating the certification process with a benchmark of 80-100% success.
- Earns high ratings (above average/exemplary) from students on accurate advising to support timely progress through coursework
- Contributes to the College through service to the School of Nursing and beyond through work on committees.
- In collaboration with the Associate Dean, School of Nursing & Health Sciences, responsible for all ongoing assessment and continuous improvement measures at the course, program, and school levels for the DNP program.
- Participates in recruitment events, enrollment, and retention of DNP graduate nursing students.
- Sustains an 80% retention and graduation rate for the DNP program
- Participates in school-wide assessment and accreditation efforts.
- Teaches 2 courses a year at the MSN or DNP level. Advises graduate students in Graduate Nursing MSN and DNP Programs:
- Teaches MSN and/or DNP courses.
- Earns above average/exemplary on student course evaluations.
- Develops course content and materials for graduate programs, in accordance with departmental needs and in keeping with School standards.
- Employs a variety of assessment tools and strategies for 100% of courses taught.
- Supports the Dean in monitoring student progress, orienting new adjuncts, reviewing curriculum, and managing enrollments.
- Collaborates with the Dean to hire, supervise, train, and evaluate assigned part-time faculty in graduate nursing:
- Implementing 100% of Canvas courses taught aligned with the School standards
- Reviewing student course evaluations and making documented, measurable pedagogical adjustments at the beginning and end of each course
- Collaborates with the Dean to hire, supervise, train, and evaluate 100% of part-time graduate advisors in:
- Degree Audit/Work Day
- Best practices in academic advising
- Demonstrates evidence of an increasing track record of scholarship in the field.
- Represents the College and programs through
- presentation of academic scholarship at national and state conferences, seminars, or through publications, and/or through publications
- Other duties as assigned
