Schedule: Full-Time, In-Office

Compensation: $33.00–$39.00 per hour ($68,640–$81,120 annually), depending on qualifications and experience.

Founded in 2009, Endemic Environmental Services is a multidisciplinary environmental consulting firm providing biological consulting, ecological restoration, stormwater management, marine services, GIS, and drone technology throughout California. Our team partners with public and private sector clients to protect natural resources while helping projects move forward responsibly.


Today, our team of approximately 75 employees supports projects throughout California, with additional employees located in Washington and New Mexico. As we continue to grow, we're looking for one experienced Human Resources Generalist to join our team. The position will be based in either our Fullerton or Sacramento office, depending on where we find the best candidate.


Working directly with the HR Manager, you'll be a key partner in supporting the Company's Human Resources function. This is a hands-on role supporting payroll, employee relations, hiring, onboarding, benefits administration, compliance, and day-to-day HR operations.


We're looking for someone who enjoys operational Human Resources, takes ownership of their work, is approachable, values collaboration, and enjoys improving processes. The ideal candidate exercises sound judgment follows through on commitments, and can manage day-to-day responsibilities with minimal direction while knowing when collaboration or guidance is appropriate.


What You'll Be Doing


Payroll & HR Operations

You'll help keep the day-to-day operations of Human Resources running smoothly by supporting payroll, HR systems, employee records, and administrative processes.

  • Assist with weekly payroll processing and payroll audits.
  • Review employee timecards for accuracy and compliance.
  • Maintain employee records and HR data within Paychex Flex.
  • Assist with benefits administration and leave administration.
  • Prepare HR correspondence, documentation, forms, and employee records.
  • Cross-train as a backup payroll processor.


Employee Relations & Compliance

You'll partner with the HR Manager to support employees and managers while helping maintain compliance with employment laws, Company policies, and internal procedures.

  • Respond to employee and manager HR questions.
  • Assist with employee relations documentation, investigations, coaching, and performance management.
  • Coordinate safety training, policy acknowledgments, and HR compliance documentation.
  • Assist with safety documentation, driver safety plans, corrective actions, and related employee records.
  • Support compliance with California and federal employment laws.
  • Support specialized payroll and compliance activities, including prevailing wage, certified payroll, and union-related administration, as needed.
  • Research employment law questions and HR best practices when needed.


Hiring & Employee Lifecycle

You'll help provide a positive employee experience from hiring through offboarding.

  • Coordinate job postings, interview scheduling, and candidate communication.
  • Prepare offer letters, onboarding paperwork, and personnel change documentation.
  • Coordinate orientation and new hire onboarding.
  • Process personnel changes and offboarding documentation.


Projects & Process Improvement

As Endemic continues to grow, Human Resources continues to evolve.


You'll have opportunities to improve processes, update forms and policies, strengthen documentation, participate in HR projects, and develop resources that better support employees, managers, and the business.


Qualifications

We're looking for someone with experience in many of the following areas:

  • Three or more years of Human Resources experience.
  • Payroll administration.
  • Employee relations.
  • California employment law.
  • Hiring support and onboarding.
  • Benefits administration.
  • HRIS and payroll systems.
  • Strong organizational, communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and professionalism.


Experience with Paychex Flex is helpful.


Experience with prevailing wage, certified payroll, union administration, multi-state employment, or safety administration is helpful, but not required.


Professional HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or SPHR) is a plus.
