Schedule & Work-Life Balance
- Night Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
- Self-scheduling
- Weekend requirement: 4 Friday/Saturday night shifts in a 6-week schedule 2 Sundays
- Holiday rotation: Approximately 3–4 per season
About the Unit
- 12 Labor Rooms, 7 Triage/Pre-Op Rooms, 3 ORs
- Average of 7 deliveries per day
- Patient Population: Pregnant and postpartum patients
- Ratios:
- Postpartum: 1:1–2
- Antepartum: 1:3
- Team-oriented, highly supportive environment where nurses love their coworkers
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and collect health data
- Coordinate and implement individualized care plans
- Monitor patient conditions and ensure safe, timely interventions
- Educate patients and families based on individualized needs
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives
- Maintain compliance with nursing standards, laws, and regulations
Qualifications
- Active Illinois RN license
- ASN required (BSN required within 3 years)
- Minimum 1 year Labor & Delivery experience required
- BLS certification required
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
Orientation & Training
- Orientation begins every 2 weeks
- 5–8 weeks of training based on experience
- Initial onboarding includes weekday (Mon–Fri) daytime training
- Full orientation typically 8–10 weeks
