Position Highlights
- Position: Supervisor, Facilities and Engineering
- Location: Edward Hospital - Naperville, IL
- Full Time, 40 hours
- Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30AM-4:00PM
- On call required
- Required Travel: none
- Plans and assigns work to facility staff engaged in completing maintenance work requests for requesting entities such as performing routine and preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment, replacing defective components, repairing non-clinical equipment, installation and testing of electrical and plumbing systems.
- Follows up on work requisitions in process to ensure proper repair methods, supplies and tools, and inspects finished work for completeness and compliance with applicable local, state and federal requirements.
- Works with requesting entities in resolving problems regarding project completion or deficiencies. Acts as a resource for requestors to determine feasibility of modifications or repair.
- Works with project manager on large scale renovations in order to coordinate activities, provides additional support when available, and minimizes adverse affects on the facility operations.
- Interviews, hires, orients, trains, evaluates the performances of and, when necessary, disciplines and/or discharges department personnel. Provides direction, as necessary, to staff regarding sensitive and/or complex work, related problems, resolves complaints and responds to inquires regarding department operations. Assists and provides training for various programs, i.e., safety, hazard communication, infection control, skill enhancement, career path development.
- Participates in the interview process for the selection of the most qualified candidate for new hires, transfers or promotions.
- Ensures adherence to established policies, procedures, and standards, initiates’ corrective action as necessary, and recommends modification to operations as appropriate. Assists in resolving employee relations problems.
- Requests materials and supplies necessary to maintain facility. Provides advice to department management in selecting capital equipment and/or capital repairs.
- Completes all necessary documentation associated with the completion of job activities, i.e., routine service and preventive maintenance requests, registration, and purchase requisitions.
- Participate in Hospital Committees if/as assigned.
- Must be available by pager 24 hours - 7 days per week, as scheduled.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum three years of previous supervisory experience in facilities and engineering or a related field
- Stationary Engineers License (Chicago or Elgin) or EPA Certification
- A valid driver’s license is required if the incumbent is selected to perform related duties at an off site location. If the incumbent uses their personal vehicle, the incumbent must maintain automobile liability coverage as required by law and evidence of such coverage may be requested.
