Salary: $112,000-$120,000, commensurate with experience


Job Summary: TheNational Political Director is tasked with executing ECU’s federal and non-federal political, PAC and partnerships strategy. In this role, the Director will oversee staff at a variety of career and experience levels within the department. They will join a collaborative work environment and partner with ECU’s VP of Campaigns to ensure the organization continues increasing its political impact. This role is a temporary position through the 2026 election cycle (November 2026), with the potential to extend depending on organizational needs and budget.  


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Direct and track our political work with House, Senate and non-federal candidates and ballot initiatives, including endorsements, contributions, candidate services, events, and other efforts. 
  • Manage and mentor three political staff members day-to-day, ensuring they are set up to succeed in their roles. 
  • Coordinate regularly with campaign teams to manage updates, facilitate information flow, coordinate requests and ensure alignment across teams.Represent ECU publicly at meetings, candidate events, and occasionally in the press or on panels or other events.
  • Engage as a senior level contributor to the political team to help set department short and long-term goals and priorities.  
  • Lead and manage weekly political strategy meetings, ensuring clear accountability, timelines, and executions across all priority campaigns and initiatives are met. 
  • Oversee and maintain comprehensive federal and non-federal budget tracking systems to align with organizational priorities. 
  • Operationalize the organization’s federal and non-federal process, ensuring timely execution, cross-team coordination, and alignment with ECU’s strategic priorities for the cycle.
  • Provide critical election updates on a weekly basis. 
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
The National Political Director must be a self-starter with at least three campaign cycles of experience, including two cycles in high-level campaign leadership positions. The ideal candidate will have an extensive background in political strategy and advocacy at the national or state level. A proven track record of building and maintaining relationships with key political stakeholders, as well as leading high-impact campaigns, is essential. Strong political acumen and the ability to navigate complex political landscapes are crucial for success in this role. The candidate should also possess strong leadership abilities, with experience managing teams and collaborating across departments to drive organizational goals. Job Location: This is a remote position, but the National Political Director must be located in the DMV area and have the ability to attend meetings and events in Washington, D.C., including but not limited to, bi-monthly in-person All Staff gatherings.
