Encore Talent Solutions has partnered with a client in the Worthington, OH area to identify a Systems Administrator on a contract to hire opportunity. This role will require full onsite work at the client location (will not allow for remote and/or hybrid based work).
Role Overview
We are seeking a contract Systems Administrator to support the client's Information Technology department. Working under the direction of the IT Director, the Sys Admin will assist with or independently perform service implementations and provide ongoing administration and support for the client's IT infrastructure. The role spans workstations, physical and virtual servers, storage, networking, telephony, and enterprise security systems. This engagement is an excellent fit for an experienced infrastructure generalist who is comfortable working independently in a lean, high-trust municipal IT environment.
Core Responsibilities
The Systems Administrator will manage physical and virtual server environments (VMware), administer end-user accounts and access rights across citywide applications, and provide advanced Windows server and desktop deployment and support. The role includes oversight of email and database systems, maintenance of the Office 365 environment, and support for network infrastructure including Cisco IOS, TCP/IP routing, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, and firewall systems.
Cybersecurity & Continuity Support
A meaningful portion of this engagement involves cybersecurity operations. The contractor will assist with vulnerability management, including supporting bi-weekly vulnerability reviews and producing monthly security metrics. They will serve as a secondary technical liaison to the client's security operations center, assist with daily threat intelligence assessment, and support incident response planning and execution. Responsibilities may include supporting cybersecurity incident response. Candidates should be comfortable working with endpoint protection platforms and managed vulnerability services.
Candidate Qualifications
Qualified candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree in information systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, along with three to five years of progressive hands-on experience in VMware virtualization, Cisco IOS, and server/desktop/network/security support. CompTIA Security certification is preferred;
Candidates with five or more years of equivalent hands-on systems and security experience will also be considered. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required, as the role involves documentation, reporting, and interaction with non-technical staff and department personnel. A valid Ohio driver’s license is required.
Candidates must pass a background check and complete CJIS certification, which can be provided on-site prior to network access. Candidates must be able to work independently, manage time-sensitive tasks, and direct outside contractors as needed.
