Immediate openings for experienced Security & Fire Alarm technicians and foreman for long term employment in the central and south New Jersey area for new ground up large projects. You must be able to install, service, program, inspect and repair addressable fire alarm systems from Potter, Silent Knight and Honeywell. In addition to fire alarm, experience is required for access controls, CCTV, data network terminations and testing, cable tray, rack n stack, and related systems.
Required duties and responsibilities:
Install, service, inspect and repair access control systems
Install, service, inspect and repair IP based CCTV systems
Install, service, inspect and repair addressable fire alarm systems
Program Potter, Silent Knight, Honeywell fire alarm panels
Perform system diagnostics, testing and troubleshooting
Must be able to understand and work from system design blueprints
Complete required documentation, inspection reports and as builts
Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA and IBC codes as well as local requirements
Conduct site surveys for new or upgraded systems when required
Communicate weekly job status reports to project manager
Report any possible scope changes to project manager
Identify possible code issues
Complete all required documentation
Accurately record hours worked and scope performed by project
Troubleshoot and perform necessary repairs when needed
Coordinate point ID with project manager for monitoring services
Test operation of new system prior to inspection by building official
Test system with building official
Instruct customer on proper operation of the system
Prepare and review project budgets
Prepare material lists
Prepare project manpower projections and schedules
Review with project manager possible changes orders and related costs
Maintain company tools and equipment
Maintain a safe and clean workspace
Coordinate with on site general contractor or owner’s rep
Coordinate with other on-site trades for interconnections to elevator, sprinkler etc
Other duties as may be assigned
Follow OSHA and company safety policies
Adhere to company code of conduct and confidentially agreement
Receive and verify material deliveries and report any shortages
Report completed work, deferred tasks, and site specific issues to project manager
Qualifications & Education
Experience with fire and security systems, minimum 5 years
Understanding of NFPA 72 and related life safety codes
Reliable transportation to job sites
Ability to read blueprints and wiring diagrams
Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
Valid driver’s license
Electrical experience is a plus
Required tools, testers etc
Must be fluent in English, additional languages are a plus
Must be able to work independently and lead a crew
OSHA 10 or 30
Knowledge of laptop and tablet operation and standard software applications
Additional foreman qualifications
Act in a lead capacity and manage teams on one or more projects
Good interpersonal skills and work in a team environment
Review official documents for accuracy and completeness
Recognize and report deviations and changes conditions to project manager
Interpret and apply applicable laws, codes and regulations
