Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Biller/Coder to join our NOVO team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the billing process, ensuring accurate coding, and facilitating timely collections. This role requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and the ability to work efficiently within a fast-paced medical office environment. Candidates with CPC experience preferred.
Duties
- Process and submit medical claims to insurance companies using appropriate coding systems, including DRG, CPT, ICD-9, and ICD-10.
- Review billing and coding records and ensure all necessary documentation is complete for billing purposes.
- Follow up on unpaid claims and manage the medical collection process to ensure timely payment.
- Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems for accurate record-keeping and billing.
- Communicate with healthcare providers and insurance companies to resolve billing discrepancies or issues.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical billing regulations and compliance standards.
- Assist in the management of medical records to ensure accuracy and confidentiality.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical billing, coding, or collections within a healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with DRG, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and general medical terminology is essential.
- Experience with EMR/EHR systems is highly desirable.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a busy office environment.
- Effective communication skills for interaction with patients, providers, and insurance representatives.
