Temporary Classroom Assistant

$22.30 per hour

Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 10:30 to 4:00 (5 hours per day/20 hours per week); with occasional Fridays

School year based breaks and holidays off

Encompass is hiring a Temporary Classroom Assistant at the Encompass Carnation Preschool in Carnation, Washington!

There is a strong likelihood that this temporary position will be extended, pending program assessment.

• Work with a team of creative educators, alongside speech, occupational, and behavioral therapists who collaborate to support every child.
• Be a part of an early learning program that supports over 100 children in Snoqualmie Valley every year to be fully prepared for kindergarten and beyond.

SCOPE: In this role, you will assist teachers by providing classroom support in the Early Learning Center program environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist staff with both long and short range activities in accordance with curriculum objectives, developmentally appropriate practice, and program philosophy.
• Manage children's activities and projects as needed.
• Maintain open communication with coworkers.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Report any suspected abuse to supervisor.
• Help maintain a safe and healthy environment; administer first aid in a timely manner when needed.
• Attend inservice and staff meetings when necessary.
• Keep all appropriate records such as attendance and time sheets.
• Meet all applicable licensing regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED)

• High school diploma or GED
• One year work or volunteer work in a food service operation
• Experience working with young children
• Ability to adhere to safety practices and procedures as required by state and federal laws
• Ability to perform the tasks and functions as required by the job including implementing age appropriate programs and activities and provide positive reinforcement to children
• Ability to work and communicate with a diverse group of people

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSES

Prior to First Day of Employment:

• • TB screening and MMR Documentation
  • Department of Child, Youth, and Family Services Portable Background Check
  • MERIT Registration and obtain a STARS ID.
  • Food and Beverage Handler's Permit

Required within 45 days of hire:

• • First aid and CPR card
  • Active Supervision/Safe Arrival and Departure
  • Child Guidance and Support
  • Mandatory Reporting of Child Abuse and Neglect
  • Standards of Conduct
  • Universal Precautions/Blood Borne Pathogens

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• This position will require extended standing or physical activity. Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
