What you’ll do
- Process and submit pharmacy claims to insurance providers using accurate DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) and CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) coding.
- Review and verify patient information, prescriptions, and insurance coverage to ensure proper billing.
- Manage collections by following up on outstanding claims and resolving discrepancies with payers.
- Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems to maintain accurate patient records and billing information.
- Collaborate with pharmacists and healthcare staff to address billing inquiries and provide exceptional customer service.
- Stay updated on medication indication and how it relates to patient care in a long-term care setting
- Maintain organized records of all billing transactions and communications for audit purposes.
Basic qualifications
- Proficiency in medical terminology, medications and indication of use, and billing processes.
- Experience with EMR/EHR systems is essential for efficient workflow management.
- Experience with Microsoft Excel
Preferred qualifications
- Previous experience in a pharmacy setting is highly desirable.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
