Position Overview
The Quality Assurance Manager owns and leads the site-wide Quality Management System (QMS) for a chemical and materials manufacturing operation producing high-purity battery electrolyte materials. This role is accountable for end-to-end quality governance across batch chemical processing, raw material qualification, laboratory integration, contamination control, traceability, and customer audit execution.
This is a hands-on, plant-embedded role, not a corporate or advisory QA position. The QA Manager works daily with Production, Process Engineering, QC Laboratory, EHS, Supply Chain, and Executive Leadership to ensure safe, compliant, and repeatable manufacturing performance in a tightly controlled chemical environment.

Key Responsibilities
Quality Management System (QMS) Ownership
- Own, maintain, and continuously improve the site QMS supporting batch chemical and materials manufacturing.
- Ensure compliance with customer and industry standards, including:
- ISO 9001
- IATF 16949 (automotive quality system
- VDA 6.3 (automotive process audit
- Develop, control, and enforce:
- SOPs and work instructions
- Batch records and manufacturing documentation
- Change management (MOC) and deviation handling
- Document control and record retention systems
- Establish disciplined, audit-ready quality execution across the plant.
Automotive OEM & Customer Quality Interface
- Lead customer quality audits including VDA 6.3 process audits and IATF 16949 certification activities.
- Serve as primary quality contact for automotive OEM and Tier-1 customers.
- Manage APQP, PPAP, and automotive core tools for new product introductions and customer qualifications.
- Execute structured problem-solving methodologies (8D, CAPA, root cause analysis) for customer complaints and quality issues.
- Maintain customer-specific requirements (CSRs) and ensure site compliance.
Chemical Process & Laboratory Quality
- Own batch traceability, material genealogy, and raw material qualification for chemical processes.
- Lead contamination control, segregation, and risk mitigation for high-purity chemical materials.
- Integrate QMS with QC laboratory operations, including:
- Analytical testing and release
- Sampling plans and specifications
- Calibration and instrument control
- Partner with Process Engineering and EHS to ensure process stability, chemical risk management, and material integrity.
Audit Management
- Lead internal audits and serve as the site owner for customer, registrar, and certification audits.
- Prepare the organization for audits through disciplined readiness, not last-minute preparation.
- Own audit findings, corrective actions, and effectiveness verification.
- Maintain a continuous compliance mindset across operations.
Continuous Improvement & Leadership
- Drive continuous improvement across chemical processing, laboratory quality, and manufacturing execution.
- Analyze quality KPIs, trends, deviations, and process capability to identify systemic risks and improvements.
- Build quality discipline and technical understanding across production, engineering, and lab teams.
- Champion a quality culture emphasizing safety, documentation rigor, accountability, and operational excellence.
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of quality experience in automotive, chemical, materials, battery, or regulated manufacturing environments.
- Direct, hands-on ownership of plant-level Quality Management Systems (QMS).
- Strong working knowledge of IATF 16949 and VDA 6.3 with experience leading automotive customer audits.
- Experience with automotive core tools: APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, MSA, SPC.
- Demonstrated leadership of structured problem-solving (8D, CAPA, root cause analysis) and corrective action systems.
- Experience leading customer audits and regulatory inspections.
- Comfortable operating on the manufacturing floor in a safety-critical environment.
- Authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Process Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Internal auditor certification (ISO 9001 / IATF 16949 / VDA 6.3).
- Experience in battery materials, electrolyte production, specialty chemicals, or high-purity materials manufacturing.
- Experience supporting automotive OEM or Tier-1 customer audit environments.
- Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing certification (Green Belt or higher).
- Experience working in multinational or cross-cultural organizations (Korean company experience a plus).

Notice:
This position requires five (5) days per week of on-site work in Commerce, Georgia. Candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance to Commerce, GA. This role is not hybrid and not remote.
