What You’ll Do…
We are looking to hire a detailed-oriented, driven, and resourceful electrical engineer to assume Design Engineering responsibilities for multiple (microgrid reliability as a service) Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of performing project and electrical engineering work - mechanical engineering experience is a plus. The position will work a hybrid schedule based out of our headquarters in downtown Houston, TX.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform the following under supervision of Project Lead Engineer:
- Support project engineering coordination: liaise with clients, vendors, utilities, and internal teams to ensure projects meet schedule, budget, safety, and quality goals.
- Prepare, review, and check project design packages, including one-line diagrams, schematics, bills of material, and equipment specifications (switchgear, transformers, cables, etc.).
- Conduct site visits, condition assessments, and interconnect applications as required.
- Perform power system studies using ETAP, including Load Flow, Short Circuit, Protection Coordination, and Arc Flash.
- Guide junior engineers and designers; review third-party engineering deliverables.
- Maintain project documentation and create as-built drawings.
Required & Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Power systems or similar.
- 3 years of combined Electrical and Project Engineering experience.
- Strong knowledge of MV & LV power distribution, switchgear, transformers, grounding systems, and power system studies.
- Familiarity with NEC, ANSI/NEMA, and IEEE standards.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, ETAP, and MS Office preferred
- Strong communication, multitasking, and project coordination skills.
- Experience drafting effectively in AutoCAD preferred.
- Prior experience in EPC or project-facing roles with microgrid or utility systems preferred.
- Familiarity with controls, utility systems, and procurement specifications preferred.
