Garden Center Retail Associate

Job Overview
We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Garden Center Associate to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service while assisting customers with their gardening needs. You will help maintain the garden center's aesthetic appeal and ensure that plants are cared for and products are well-organized and displayed.

Responsibilities

• Assist customers in selecting plants, gardening supplies, and landscaping products based on their needs.
• Maintain the garden center by organizing plants, flowers, and gardening tools to ensure a visually appealing display.
• Care for the plants as needed, watering, dead-heading, fertilize and more.
• Provide knowledgeable advice on plant care to customers
• Process sales transactions accurately using the cash register and handle customer inquiries related to retail sales.
• Maintain inventory levels by restocking shelves and ensuring that all products are properly labeled.
• Communicate effectively with customers to understand their gardening goals and provide tailored solutions.
• Collaborate with team members to create promotional displays and enhance the overall shopping experience.
• Lifting of some moderately heavy products, and getting wet/dirty from caring for plants will be expected.
• Maintenance/cleaning of the store and grounds.

Skills

• Strong organizational skills to manage inventory and maintain an orderly garden center.
• Experience in landscape maintenance to assist customers with practical gardening advice.
• Knowledge of floral design principles to help create beautiful arrangements for customers.
• Multilingual abilities are a plus for communicating with a diverse customer base.
• Excellent customer service skills to foster positive relationships with shoppers.
• Effective communication skills to convey information clearly and assist customers in making informed decisions.
• Sales experience is beneficial for promoting products and achieving retail goals.
• Familiarity with retail math concepts for accurate pricing and transaction processing.
• Proficiency in using cash registers for efficient checkout experiences.

Willing to train the right person, but horticulture and landscaping experience is a plus, and knowledge of plants is also a plus. Customer Service experience is preferred.

Pay: $18.00 - $30.00 per hour
