About the Role
Enchanted Explorers Daycare is seeking a reliable, hardworking, and detail-oriented Kitchen & Facilities Staff member to join our team. This role plays an important part in supporting the health, safety, and well-being of the children in our care by preparing nutritious meals and maintaining a clean, safe, and organized daycare environment.
The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, and comfortable balancing both kitchen and facility responsibilities in a fast-paced childcare setting.
Responsibilities:
Kitchen Duties
- Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and snacks according to menus provided by the Food Program Director
- Portion meals by age group in compliance with CACFP nutrition guidelines
- Wash, sanitize, and properly store dishes, utensils, cookware, and serving items
- Clean and sanitize food preparation areas, equipment, and appliances daily
- Properly handle, label, and store food items to maintain freshness and prevent contamination
- Monitor kitchen inventory, restock supplies, and notify management when items need to be ordered
- Follow all food safety and sanitation procedures, including temperature monitoring and food storage requirements
Facility Duties
- Sweep, vacuum, mop, and sanitize floors in classrooms, hallways, common areas, the cafeteria, lounge, and kitchen
- Empty trash and recycling bins and ensure proper disposal of waste
- Clean and disinfect restrooms, sinks, and other high-touch surfaces daily
- Assist with laundry and cleaning tasks as needed
- Support the overall cleanliness, safety, and organization of the daycare facility
- Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or supply shortages to management
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a kitchen, food service, custodial, or similar role preferred
- Knowledge of food safety practices and sanitation procedures
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently within a structured daily schedule
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Reliable, dependable, and able to work independently
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Comfortable working in a childcare environment and supporting the needs of children and staff
Additional Requirements
- Ability to pass all required State of Michigan background checks
- First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain certification upon hire
- Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks, including lifting, bending, and carrying supplies

Position Details
- Job Type: Full-Time
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8-hour shifts (no nights or weekends)
- Pay: $14.00–$16.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications
- Probationary Period: 60 days or less, based on performance
