Description:

Bio Med Level III is responsible for the maintenance and service of assigned medical equipment. Performs various tasks associated with installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of clinical equipment without supervision. Possess a mastery of task, skills, and knowledge of the job and a complete level of expertise. The Bio Med Level 3 can educate less experienced technicians and instruct clinical staff on the operation of medical equipment.

Requirements:

To perform this role successfully, the individual must demonstrate proficiency in the following areas. Additional duties may be assigned based on business needs.

• Full understanding of medical equipment, human anatomy and physiology, and medical terminology.

• Expert in troubleshooting and repair techniques to perform equipment repairs.

• Ability to perform preventive maintenance procedures on all levels of medical equipment.

• Possess the skill to utilize and train others on the tools and test equipment required for job duties.

• Specifically possess the following skills:

o Skill in the setup and use of standard and advanced level test equipment to perform precise and detailed analysis of the operating and design characteristics of equipment and initiate repairs, reconfiguration, or redesign of moderately complex medical systems.

o Skill in applying theory, concepts, techniques, design characteristics, operation, and functions to assist and support installation, operation, test, maintenance, repair, design, and modification for a comprehensive range of medical equipment connected to networks or other operating systems.

o Ability to perform testing and troubleshooting of medical devices involving their interfaces and connections to other medical devices, clinical systems, or information systems either directly or through the hospital’s hardwired and wireless networks

• Adherence to confidentiality requirements and safeguarding of protected health information (PHI).

• Competent in using and training others on the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).

• Complete knowledge of regulatory requirements pertaining to medical equipment management.

Education and Experience:

• Biomedical Equipment Technician Certification (CBET) acquired through the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI)

• Completion of a military training program in biomedical equipment.

• Associate of Applied Science Degree or completion of a Biomedical Technician Certificate Course.

• Must pass background checks and drug screening in accordance with company policy and applicable regulations.

• Proven experience managing technical teams and client-facing operations.

• Strong organizational and communication skills.

• Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and uphold service standards in a dynamic environment.

• Experience in assigned medical equipment environment is preferred.


Technical Requirements:

• Commitment to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and compliant work environment.

• Must be able to lift and carry equipment or materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods as required in operational settings.

• Must consistently be able to visually process documents, digital displays, equipment, and supplies, and evaluate customer requirements effectively.

• Requires fine motor skills and coordination to handle intricate and sensitive equipment accurately; this also includes routine use of a computer for data entry, retrieving information, and related tasks.

• May involve similar physical demands to those found in clinical or direct patient care roles.

• Must possess a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel to client sites or operational

locations as needed.

• Must be capable of operating a vehicle, which includes prolonged sitting and the ability to observe and interpret road signs, signals, and surrounding traffic conditions.

• Frequent engagement with providers, team members, clients, patients, and visitors, requiring clear verbal communication and the ability to listen, comprehend, and respond to spoken information and concerns, clearly, promptly, accurately and escalate concerns if beyond the scope of a Bio Med 3.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across clinical and technical teams.

• Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop field technicians.

• Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities under pressure.

• Commitment to a customer-first service model and continuous improvement.


Workering Conditions:

• Field-based role with regular travel to healthcare facilities.

• Exposure to clinical environments and associated hazards (e.g., electrical, chemical, infectious agents).

• Use of protective equipment and adherence to safety protocols required.

Salary : $41 - $49
