JOB SUMMARY
Repair, calibrate, and maintain all types of basic clinical and surgical center medical equipment, devices,
instruments, and systems. Inspect, install, and provide preventative maintenance of general clinical
equipment.
Requirements:RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance (PM) on biomedical equipment to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.
- Perform corrective maintenance to diagnose and repair malfunctioning medical devices efficiently.
- Maintain accurate and detailed service documentation, including maintenance logs, repair records, and test results.
- Assist with inventory management by tracking and organizing biomedical equipment and spare parts.
- Inspect and calibrate medical devices to ensure they meet manufacturer specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with healthcare staff to address equipment-related issues and provide technical support as needed.
- Perform incoming inspections and functionality checks on newly acquired or repaired equipment.
- Follow all safety protocols and adhere to industry standards during equipment servicing.
- Provide recommendations for equipment replacement or upgrades based on performance and usage analysis.
- Stay informed about advancements in biomedical technology and participate in training as required to enhance technical skills.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Associate’s degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology or a related field (or equivalent military training).
- Strong knowledge of medical equipment standards, regulations, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to travel to project locations as needed.
- Experience working in hospital or healthcare environments.
- Familiarity with OEM equipment and software.
Specifically possess the following skills:
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply a great variety of technical data such as schematic drawings, wiring diagrams, table charts, mathematical expressions and formulas.
- Ability to learn equipment maintenance, operating procedures, and repair procedures from training materials, courses, and/or manufacturer service literature
- Fundamental knowledge of electronics to include analog, digital and microprocessor theory, pneumatics, hydraulics, optics, electro-mechanics, physics, basic networking, and chemistry.
- Knowledge of the use of standard level test equipment to include, but not limited to, multimeters, electrical safety analyzers, patient simulator, storage oscilloscopes, manometers, tachometers, etc.
Working Conditions:
Generally good working conditions. Possible hazards include exposure to electrical
shock, ionizing radiation, chemicals and chemical fumes, high-pressure air, infectious disease, and
various other hazards associated with biomedical engineering work. Protective clothing and safe work
practices are required.
