About the Company
Our client is an established U.S. customs brokerage and international logistics company with a strong customer base across multiple industries.
Due to continued growth, they are looking to add an experienced Customs Compliance Specialist to their team. This is a hands-on position within a close-knit business, with the opportunity to take ownership of compliance matters and work directly with customers and internal teams.
The Role
The successful candidate will become a key point of contact for customs compliance matters, supporting customers and the brokerage team across a broad range of U.S. import regulations.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys taking ownership, solving problems and working across different areas of customs rather than being restricted to a narrow set of responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a point of contact for customer customs compliance queries
- Advise customers on U.S. import regulations and tariff requirements
- Manage Section 232, Section 301 and Chapter 99 tariff matters
- Audit CBP Form 7501 entry summaries for accuracy
- Review classification, valuation, duty and tariff application
- Manage CF-28 Requests for Information and coordinate responses
- Prepare and file protests and Post Summary Corrections
- Review and maintain customs powers of attorney and customer documentation
- Support duty drawback activity where required
- Work alongside entry teams on classification and PGA-related queries
- Assist with FDA, EPA and other regulatory requirements
- Take on additional compliance responsibilities as the business develops
Requirements
- Strong U.S. customs compliance experience within a customs brokerage, freight forwarder or importer
- Working knowledge of Section 232, Section 301 and Chapter 99
- Experience with 7501 entry audits, CF-28s, protests and PSCs
- Strong understanding of HTSUS classification
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain regulations clearly to customers
- Comfortable working independently and across multiple functions
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
- Technically capable and able to learn new systems quickly
Preferred
- Licensed Customs Broker (LCB)
- CargoWise experience
- Duty drawback experience
- Exposure to Partner Government Agencies, particularly FDA and EPA
CargoWise experience is preferred but not essential for the right candidate. Training will be available.
