What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler position at EMT International?
The Material Handler is responsible for safely and efficiently handling, moving, and storing materials to support manufacturing, production, and shipping operations. This role supports both inventory and shipping/receiving areas, with cross-training in both. Responsibilities include fulfilling orders, maintaining inventory, managing incoming and outgoing shipments, and moving materials between departments.
Material Handler Responsibilities
- Safely load, unload, move, and stage materials throughout the EMT International facility
- Deliver raw materials, components, and supplies to production areas in a timely manner
- Drive company vehicles to pick up orders and deliver parts locally as required
- Ensure timely and accurate local pickups and deliveries from vendors, suppliers, and customers
- Perform shipping and receiving duties, including unloading incoming shipments and preparing outgoing shipments
- Verify incoming and outgoing materials against packing slips, bills of lading, and work orders for accuracy
- Package, label, and prepare materials and finished goods for shipment
- Accurately pick and issue components for internal and external orders
- Maintain and monitor stock levels and supplies
- Ensure inventory accuracy through cycle counts and tracking
- Identify and report material shortages, damaged items, or discrepancies to leadership
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other handling equipment
Material Handler Requirements
- 1–2 years of experience in shipping, receiving, or inventory in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required
- Forklift/high-lift training preferred
- Ability to lift/move materials and work in a physically active role
