Position Overview
EMT ELITE is seeking compassionate and dependable Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) to join our PRN team. EMT ELITE provides first-aid and BLS-level care to individuals experiencing homelessness and to attendees at public events across Phoenix.
This role is perfect for both newly-certified EMTs and experienced professionals who want flexible scheduling, meaningful community work, and opportunities for growth. Depending on assignment, you may work alongside an EMT Lead/Supervisor or an EMT Assistant (CPR/First Aid certified) to ensure safe and professional medical coverage.
Key Responsibilities
Emergency Medical Response
- Provide Basic Life Support (BLS) and first-aid care within EMT scope of practice.
- Conduct patient assessments and determine the need for higher-level medical intervention.
- Deliver compassionate care to individuals experiencing medical or behavioral crises, including members of the homeless population.
- Manage non-emergency injuries and illnesses at shelters, outreach programs, or event sites.
- Monitor and stabilize patients while awaiting EMS or advanced medical response.
- Complete accurate, timely documentation for all patient contacts and incidents.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and EMT ELITE documentation standards.
- Communicate clearly with the EMT Lead/Supervisor, shelter staff, event coordinators, and emergency services as needed.
Teamwork
- Collaborate effectively with other EMT ELITE staff, Leads, or Assistants on-scene.
- Demonstrate professionalism, respect, and empathy toward all individuals served.
- Represent EMT ELITE’s core values — Compassion, Professionalism, and Preparedness — in every interaction.
Qualifications
- Current Nationally Registered EMT and Arizona EMT Certification.
- Current BLS/CPR and First Aid Certification.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Strong communication, observation, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in fast-paced or high-stress situations.
- Compassion for vulnerable and underserved populations.
Work Environment
- PRN / Per-Diem schedule — shifts vary based on event and client needs.
- Work may involve outdoor or shelter environments, large crowds, and extended standing or walking.
- Must be comfortable engaging with diverse populations, including individuals experiencing homelessness or crisis.
Compensation & Benefits
