What are the responsibilities and job description for the Microbiologist I (Prep Lab) position at EMSL?
EMSL is currently seeking a Microbiologist I (Prep Lab) n Cinnaminson, NJ. This role will encompass preparation and analysis for environmental microbiology samples. No laboratory experience is required, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees. Experienced analysts are welcomed to apply.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform standard and non-standard laboratory preparation procedures using aseptic technique
Serial dilutions, membrane filtration, and sample plating to petri dishes
Verify testing is performed within method-specific hold times, record daily equipment temperatures, and monitor lab inventory and order supplies when needed
Operate autoclaves and document cycles
Generate analytical reports and enter data into the LIMS system
Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed
Perform quality control practices per company Quality Assurance/Quality Control manual
Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the manager
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Microbiology or related science is required
Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship
Laboratory experience either in academic or commercial setting is a plus
Experience with spore traps, direct microscopic exam, testing microbiology environmental samples (water, wastewater, air) is desired
Ability to work with phase contrast and light microscopes, analytical balances, biological safety cabinets, filtration manifolds, and adhere to sterile techniques and good lab practices
Ability to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis
Ability to work independently, and as a part of a team, self-motivated, adaptability, and a positive attitude
Effective time management organizational skills, and ability to multi- task and prioritize with minimal assistance
Available Shift:
Position is full time, Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
