What are the responsibilities and job description for the Emergency Medical Technician position at EMS University?
EMS University (EMSU) is seeking motivated EMTs and Paramedics to join our brand new West Valley location's instructional team! Our new site is conveniently located just off of Loop 101 at 83rd Ave & Thunderbird Rd.
This part-time, shift pick-up style, on-site position emphasizes multiple track offerings over days, evenings, and weekends. Instructors will teach initial EMT courses, CPR classes, and online EMT/Paramedic refresher sessions, and perform skills examinations helping prepare students for success in emergency medical services.

Responsibilities
- Teach in-person EMT and CPR courses following EMSU curriculum and state and national guidelines.
- Deliver dynamic instruction through lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on training.
- Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback to support learning.
- Maintain compliance with all EMS education and testing standards.
- Keep accurate attendance and grading documentation.
- Participate in instructor meetings, professional development, and training sessions.
- Promote EMSU’s mission of high-quality, student-centered education.
Qualifications
Required:
- Minimum 2 years of EMS field or academic experience (prehospital or emergency medicine).
- Current Arizona EMT or Paramedic license.
- Current BLS Provider certification.
- EMS Instructional Strategies Course (40 hours) or equivalent.
- If you don’t already have this certification, EMSU provides it FREE for all new instructor hires!
Preferred:
- Prior teaching or training experience.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher.
- NREMT certification.
Skills
- In-depth understanding of EMS operations, training equipment, and prehospital care.
- Strong communication, leadership, and presentation abilities.
- Dependable and detail-oriented.
- Proficient with technology (Zoom, online attendance, scheduling tools, etc.).
