About The Role
We are seeking a skilled Scrap Yard Maintenance Welder to support the operation, repair, and light fabrication of equipment and metal structures in a fast-paced scrap yard environment. This hands-on role involves preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, welding, metal fabrication, and general equipment upkeep. The ideal candidate has strong experience with diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and stick welding, and is comfortable working both independently and outdoors in all weather conditions.

About The Role
We are seeking a skilled Scrap Yard Maintenance Welder to support the operation, repair, and light fabrication of equipment and metal structures in a fast-paced scrap yard environment. This hands-on role involves preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, welding, metal fabrication, and general equipment upkeep. The ideal candidate has strong experience with diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and stick welding, and is comfortable working both independently and outdoors in all weather conditions.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform planned and preventative maintenance on heavy machinery and metal-processing equipment
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues
- Disassemble and reassemble machinery and equipment for repair
- Install new or repaired machinery parts as needed
- Fabricate steel structures and components using blueprints or internal specifications
- Perform Stick and Oxy/Propane welding
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and technical drawings
- Conduct quality-control checks to ensure repairs meet safety and performance standards
- Fuel and lubricate equipment regularly
- Communicate equipment conditions and supply needs to supervisor
- Maintain and operate tools and equipment used for maintenance and fabrication
- Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and confined-space protocols
- Assist with general facility cleanup and maintenance
- Travel to offsite locations as required using a personal vehicle
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Ability to work overhead, climb ladders, kneel, and stand for extended periods
- Proficiency reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks
- Proficient Stick welding; Oxy/Propane welding required
- Responsible, self-motivated, and committed to maintaining an organized work area
- High school diploma or GED required
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in equipment maintenance and metal fabrication
- Experience repairing metal-processing equipment, heavy machinery, and trucks
- Background in electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems
- Shop fabrication experience required
- Outdoor work in all weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow
- PPE required at all times
- Evening, weekend, or variable hours possible based on operational needs
- Must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to use a personal vehicle for work travel
