EMR is looking for an experienced Master Mechanic to join our New Orleans team. In this critical role, you will ensure the safe and efficient operation of our heavy and stationary equipment through expert-level preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repair.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background working with diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and metal recycling machinery, along with the ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical systems. If you take pride in keeping machines running at peak performance and enjoy working in a dynamic industrial environment, we’d like to meet you. This role pays $45 – 55/hr.
What You’ll Do
Maintain equipment in proper working condition through scheduled preventive maintenance.
Diagnose and repair heavy equipment such as material handlers, excavators, front-end loaders, and skid steers.
Maintain and service stationary metal recycling equipment, including shredders, shears, balers, conveyors, crushers, and sorting systems.
Read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics, OEM manuals, and technical documentation.
Inspect and test machinery to identify and resolve malfunctions.
Dismantle and reassemble machinery for major repairs.
Install new or repaired parts, machinery, and equipment.
Perform welding, fabrication, fueling, and lubrication tasks as required.
Ensure all work meets company safety standards, including compliance with lockout/tagout and confined space procedures.
Maintain detailed service records using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
Keep supervisors informed of repair needs, maintenance priorities, and parts or supply requirements.
Maintain accountability for all company tools and assigned equipment.
Train and mentor new team members.
Perform general facility cleanup and assist with other duties as assigned.
What We’re Looking For
Experience: Minimum of 10 years of maintenance experience in heavy equipment and industrial machinery repair.
Technical Skills:
Strong background in diesel, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
Experience with major equipment brands such as Liebherr, CAT, Sennebogen, Volvo, Bobcat, and Fuchs.
Proficiency in reading schematics and interpreting OEM service documentation
Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
Certifications:
Diesel Mechanic Certification (required)
OSHA Or Other Relevant Safety Certifications (preferred)
Education: High school diploma or GED required.
License: Valid driver’s license required.
Abilities:
Strong leadership and mentoring skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Capable of working overhead, climbing ladders, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
Excellent time management and communication skills
Work Environment
Outdoor and industrial facility environment; exposure to varying weather conditions including heat, cold, and rain.
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required.
May require occasional evening or weekend shifts.
Regular lifting and carrying of light to moderate weights.
