We are seeking a skilled Machinist/Millwright to support heavy industrial operations in New Orleans, LA by fabricating, repairing, and machining precision parts for critical equipment and assets. This role requires hands-on experience operating manual machining equipment and the ability to work from manual drawings, hand sketches, and other design specifications to produce high-quality components.

Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Machinist/Millwright to support heavy industrial operations in New Orleans, LA by fabricating, repairing, and machining precision parts for critical equipment and assets. This role requires hands-on experience operating manual machining equipment and the ability to work from manual drawings, hand sketches, and other design specifications to produce high-quality components.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate manual machining equipment including:
- LeBlond lathe
- Standard Modern 1530 lathe
- Vertical and horizontal milling machines
- Drill presses, grinders, and other shop equipment
- Machine, fabricate, modify and repair parts for industrial assets such as pumps, motors, gearboxes, shafts, and structural components
- Interpret technical drawings, and work orders to determine machining requirements
- Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and other measuring tools
- Maintain tight tolerances and ensure finished parts meet specifications
- Select appropriate tooling, cutting speeds, and materials for each job
- Perform equipment maintenance and ensure machines are in safe operating condition
- Assist with equipment teardown, inspection, and rebuilds as needed
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment
- Sustain and maintain organization of machine tooling by engaging with site expectations including the 5S Housekeeping philosophy
- High school diploma or GED (technical or trade school preferred)
- 3 years of experience operating manual machining equipment in a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment
- Strong experience with manual lathes and milling machines
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and schematics
- Proficiency with hand tools and precision measuring instruments
- Solid understanding of machining principles, materials, and tooling
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience in heavy industry (e.g., steel, oil & gas, power generation, or similar)
- Welding or fabrication experience is a plus
- Familiarity with equipment repair and maintenance processes
- Basic knowledge of CNC machining (not required but beneficial)
- Experience in maintenance, repair and custom fabrication
- Monday – Friday, minimal nights or weekends
