Food Service Assistant

**This is an on-site position located in Roslyn, NY. **

The Food Service Assistant supports the daily operations of PRIMMA's in-house café by assisting with food preparation, food service, inventory replenishment, cleanliness, and customer service while helping maintain a welcoming, safe, and efficient environment for employees and guests

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Assist with daily food and beverage preparation, including sandwiches, salads, snacks, and coffee service.
• Set up and maintain the café service area throughout the day, ensuring food and beverage items are fresh, properly stocked, and attractively presented.
• Provide friendly, professional, and customer-focused service to employees, visitors, and guests.
• Assist with restocking food, beverages, paper products, and café supplies throughout the day.
• Assist with receiving, inspecting, unpacking, and properly storing food, beverage, and supply deliveries.
• Notify the Food Service Coordinator of inventory shortages, product concerns, damaged goods, or supply needs.
• Support company meetings, training sessions, and special events through setup, service, replenishment, and cleanup of food and beverage offerings
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of café, kitchen, serving, dining, storage, and food preparation areas.
• Wash dishes, utensils, equipment, and food preparation items in accordance with health and safety standards.
• Follow established food safety, sanitation, hygiene, and workplace safety procedures at all times.
• Conduct routine checks to ensure food quality, freshness, proper product rotation, and overall cleanliness standards are maintained.
• Assist with monitoring expiration dates and rotating inventory using established food safety practices.
• Collaborate with the Food Service Coordinator and other team members to ensure efficient daily operations and exceptional customer service.
• Promptly communicate maintenance, equipment, supply, food quality, or customer service concerns to the Food Service Coordinator
• Follow all company policies and procedures related to food service operations, safety, and customer service.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education & Qualifications:

• One to three years of experience in food service, café operations, hospitality, catering, or a related customer service environment preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required 
• Nassau County Food Manager certification required within the first 3-6 months of employment
• Strong customer service skills with a friendly and professional attitude.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness, organization, and food safety standards.
• Ability to multitask and perform efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively with employees, guests, vendors, and coworkers
• Basic understanding of food handling, food safety, sanitation, and hygiene procedures.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and move supplies, food products, and equipment up to 35 pounds
• Comfort working in kitchen, storage, and food service environments with varying temperatures.

The actual compensation will be determined by experience and other factors permitted by law.
