Job Title: Human Resources Generalist-Leave Administration

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position reports to the Director of Human Resources. This position manages all aspects of an employee's life cycle, from hiring to exit, and acts as a liaison between employees and management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Represent and provide human resources support for the company and the department, both internally and externally, as required.
- Prepares, maintains, and updates all employee information records, personnel files, and appropriate databases as required, and ensures employee status and headcount accuracy.
- Answer routine inquiries, both internal and external, on subjects such as employment verifications, job openings or benefits, human resource related pay issues, and policy questions.
- Assists employees with disability insurance claim requirements for non-work-related injuries or illnesses, tracking all benefits and employee-paid premiums for the duration of the disability, making sure all physical capability forms and physical agility tests are complete before the employee returns to work.
- Oversees the employee light duty program and assists with light duty staffing assignments and schedules.
- Conducts the Human Resources section of the new hire orientation.
- Processes Onboarding and Offboarding in system
Leave Management:
- Consistent tracking of all employees on Leave of Absence, including, but not limited to, Military, FMLA, and tracking all benefits and employee-paid premiums for the duration of the leave, making sure all physical capability forms and physical agility tests are complete before employee returning to work.
- Administer and manage employee leave programs, ensuring compliance with federal,
state, and local regulations.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for employees regarding leave inquiries, providing
guidance on eligibility, procedures, and documentation requirements.
- Process and track leave requests, maintaining accurate records and documentation in
HRIS system.
- Collaborate with HR team members, managers, and employees to facilitate smooth
transitions during leave and return-to-work processes (including light duty
accommodations if applicable).
- Maintain accurate and updated personnel records for each employee’s leave status and
return-to-work dates.
- Conduct audits of leave records to ensure accuracy and compliance, addressing
discrepancies as needed.
Workers Compensation:
- Facilitate the Workers Compensation initial reporting through resolution process of injury
claims to NYSIF.
- Ensure timely reporting of injuries, claims follow-up, and coordination with NYSIF
(New York Insurance Fund).
- Maintain compliance with NY State Workers Compensation laws and track all incidents
and claim to ensure proper documentation.
- Ensure completion of Medical Declination form for employees refusing medical
attention.
- Act as a liaison between employees, management, and NYSIF to communicate updates
throughout the employee’s claim process.
- Perform other such duties as may be required.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Experience
- Minimum of 4 years of Human Resources generalist experience with in depth knowledge of FMLA, PFL, NYS DBL, and Worker Compensation.
- EMS experience preferred
Education and Certification:
- BS Human Resources Management, or HR Certification (SHRM-CP/PHR/CEBS)

- Computer knowledge including Excel, Access, and Microsoft Word.
