What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavior Specialist position at Empowering Pathways 365?
The Behavioral Support Specialist (BSS) provides direct, individualized support to EP365 participants during adaptive sports and inclusive recreation sessions. You will work alongside participants at assigned staffing ratios from 1:1, 1:3, or 1:5, implementing their personalized behavior support strategies, encouraging engagement, and helping create a safe and positive experience at every session.
You will work across EP365's full range of adaptive sports and recreation programs. No two sessions are the same and that's what makes this work meaningful.
What You'll Do
• Provide direct behavioral support to participants at 1:1, 1:3, and 1:5 ratios during adaptive sports and recreation sessions
• Implement individualized behavior support strategies aligned to each participant's ISP goals and IPP
• Foster participant engagement, independence, and enjoyment throughout every session
• Ensure water breaks are provided to participants at minimum every 15 minutes
• Complete accurate session notes and documentation within the protected 15-minute end-of-session window
• Communicate any behavioral concerns, incidents, or observations to the Lead BSS or Director of Behavioral Supports immediately
• Maintain a safe, respectful, and encouraging environment for every participant
• Represent EP365's mission and values in every interaction with participants, families, and facility partners
What We're Looking For
• Experience supporting individuals with IDD in a care, educational, recreational, or behavioral setting
• Familiarity with behavior support strategies, person-centered approaches, and ISP/IPP goals
• Adaptable and comfortable working across different sports and recreational activities
• Dependable, punctual, and detail-oriented
• Warm, encouraging presence with participants
• DDS training completed or willingness to complete prior to first session
• Active DOJ/FBI background clearance
• CPR/First Aid certified or willing to obtain within 30 days
