Position Description:
Empowered Nutrition is an outpatient nutrition practice focused on supporting our clients with a variety of chronic health challenges, including eating disorders. We are a group of Registered Dietitians focused on providing behavior change support, individualized plans, and systems-based care.
The Registered Dietitian (RD) or Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS) will provide outpatient individual nutrition counseling and coaching to patients who are primarily using their insurance benefits to access care.
Nutrition counseling services include the treatment of eating disorders, disordered eating, and medical nutrition therapy for adults, adolescents, and families (FBT). Treatment specialties may include: eating disorders, family based treatment, medical nutrition therapy from a weight inclusive lens, and family feeding. The RD or CNS will collaborate as needed with the current eating disorder-specialized RD on our team, and will report to the clinical director.

Setting/hours: Full time, or part-time (set your schedule), hyrbrid or tele-health.
Further Responsibilities:
- Perform nutrition counseling services to patients of Empowered Nutrition, as scheduled, and in accordance with company policies.
- Regular and reliable attendance and timely arrival to work is required.
- Be properly licensed and abide by all laws, rules, regulations, and codes of ethics that are binding upon or applicable to the services performed for Empowered Nutrition.
- Respond to patients’ requests for service or calls within 2 business days.
- Communicate with a patient’s treatment team (i.e., therapist, PCP, psychiatrist, etc.) as necessary.
- Timely complete written records for each patient including, but not limited to: intake/assessment notes, follow up/progress notes, termination notes, contract notes, and other forms or documents which may be needed or required from time-to-time by Empowered Nutrition or third parties in conjunction with the treatment of the patient within a timely fashion.
- Keep patient files accurate and up to date.
- Attend mandatory staff meetings, supervision and training as directed by Empowered Nutrition.
- Conduct and regulate nutrition counseling services in a professional manner so as to maintain and increase the goodwill and reputation of Empowered Nutrition.
- Be respectful of, cooperative with, and collaborative with co-workers.
Nutrition therapy is delivered through a combination of in-person and virtual (telehealth) consultations. You may set your clinic schedule (days and hours) and can work from 10-40 hours per week per your preference. Some days may be from home (telehealth). Our clinic is located in Southern Pines, NC.
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
- A Bachelor's degree in dietetics and completed internship; and active Registered Dietitian (RD) credential with CDR or a Certified Nutrition Specialist (CNS) license. A copy must be provided.
- 2 years experience as a RD or CNS
- 1 year experience with eating disorder work
- Eligibility and willingness to attain a LDN license in North Carolina (from the NCBND: https://www.ncbdn.org)
- Strong interest in eating disorder or behavioral health nutrition care
Other Qualification Preferences:
- Prior experience in a private practice setting.
- Experience working as an active member of a multi-disciplinary eating disorder treatment team
- Local to our practice in Southern Pines, North Carolina
- Creates an individualized nutrition treatment plan with appropriate goals and objectives.
- Ability to develop meal plans demonstrating diversity and meeting the nutritional needs of the patients.
- Demonstrates ability to build therapeutic rapport.
- Achieves timely completion and accuracy of assigned paperwork: assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, group notes, etc.
Further Details
Hours: Work hours and schedule may vary depending on the combination of your preferences and Empowered Nutrition needs. Nights and weekends are permitted but not required. The clinician is not guaranteed a minimum number of patients or sessions per week. However, it is expected that Dietitian will be available to hold at least 10 patient sessions per week, provided such sessions are available and scheduled by Empowered Nutrition. Patient sessions are offered via hybrid currently (tele-health or in-person), although telehealth-only is possible for the right fit.
