Job Summary:
The Painter is responsible for applying high-quality coatings to truck-mounted equipment and delivery units using automotive-style paint processes. This role includes final-stage painting, blending, and finishing of units (including standard colors such as white and red) to meet company quality and durability standards. The Painter must strictly follow all safety procedures, including the required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as respirators.
Key Responsibilities:
· Apply primers, base coats, and topcoats using spray guns and industrial paint systems
· Paint large truck units and equipment to company specifications and finish standards
· Perform final finish work, including blending, buffing, and touch-ups
· Ensure consistent color match, thickness, and smooth finish across all surfaces
· Read and follow work orders, paint codes, and production schedules
· Inspect completed work for defects, runs, or inconsistencies and correct as needed
· Maintain and clean spray equipment, paint booths, and tools
· Follow proper procedures for mixing, handling, and storing paints and chemicals
· Work collaboratively with prep staff and production teams to meet deadlines
Qualifications:
· Experience with HVLP spray guns, paint booths, and coating systems
· Knowledge of paint mixing, curing processes, and surface finishing techniques
· Ability to read and interpret work instructions and Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
· Ability to follow safety protocols consistently
· Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented
· Strong attention to detail and quality control
Education/Experience:
· High school diploma or equivalent preferred
· 2 year experience in automotive, industrial, or equipment painting preferred
Physical Demands:
· Ability to stand, walk, and work for extended periods (8–10 hours per shift)
· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed
· Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive motion
· Ability to work in a paint booth environment with exposure to fumes, chemicals, and noise (with proper PPE)
Work Environment:
· Industrial/manufacturing setting
· Exposure to paint fumes, dust, and chemicals
· Temperature variations depending on facility conditions
· Use of ventilation systems and protective equipment required at all times
Safety Requirements:
· Mandatory use of PPE at all times, including:
- Respirator (must pass fit testing and medical clearance)
- Safety glasses or face shield
- Gloves and protective clothing
· Follow all OSHA and company safety standards related to paint application, ventilation, and hazardous materials
· Participate in respiratory protection programs and required safety training
· Immediately report unsafe conditions, spills, or equipment issues
