Role Description
This is an on-site, full-time position for a Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant located in Cincinnati, OH. The responsibilities include assisting counselors in providing support to clients coping with substance use disorders. The role will involve conducting assessments, maintaining accurate records, facilitating group and individual counseling sessions, and implementing treatment plans designed to help clients achieve and sustain recovery. Administrative tasks, such as scheduling and documenting progress, will also be part of routine duties.
Qualifications
- Knowledge and understanding of substance use disorders, treatment approaches, and recovery principles
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and active listening skills
- Experience with documentation, record-keeping, and treatment planning
- Ability to facilitate group sessions and provide one-on-one client support
- Problem-solving skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries
- Comfort working with diverse populations and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team
- High school diploma or equivalent; certification or relevant training in chemical dependency counseling preferred
- Prior experience in behavioral health, social work, or a related field is advantageous
- Proficiency in basic computer skills, including electronic medical records
