Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Coach to join our team. Duties

  • Educate individuals on essential life skills and personal development strategies.
  • Provide mentoring support to participants, helping them navigate challenges and achieve their goals.
  • Develop and implement training programs tailored to the needs of individuals with autism and developmental disabilities.
  • Conduct interviews to assess the needs of participants and create personalized development plans.
  • Collaborate with community resources to enhance workforce development opportunities for participants.
  • Assist in recruiting new participants for programs aimed at improving life skills and employment readiness.
  • Maintain accurate records of participant progress and program effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of employment labor laws relevant to coaching and mentoring.
  • Experience working with individuals with autism and developmental disabilities is highly desirable.
  • Proven ability in mentoring and training development, with a focus on empowering others.
  • Skills in interviewing techniques to effectively assess participant needs.
  • Familiarity with workforce development initiatives that promote job readiness and skill enhancement.
  • A background in addiction counseling is a plus but not mandatory.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with participants and stakeholders.
  • A genuine passion for helping others succeed in their personal and professional lives.

  • JOB SUMMARY The Job Coach serves to provide unconditional and exceptional assistance to all participants requiring help with employment and related activities, activity inclusion and appropriate social inclusion. The Job Coach serves to ensure the safety of all participants at all times.

  • The Job Coach reports to the Program Instructor / Case Manager, Job Developer, Program Coordinator, and Program Director.

  • * Be knowledgeable of and able to appropriately respond to the specific needs and unique qualities of each participant enrolled in the Empower Academy Program  by reviewing and learning the Special Needs list of all participants  by knowing the full and correct first and last names of all participants  by developing viable relationship/connection with every participant enrolled in the program * Assisting the Program Manager(s) and co-workers to ensure ADA targets are met or exceeded on a daily/monthly/annual basis  by providing words of encouragement to participants to attend on a daily basis  by acknowledging every participant on a daily basis at the beginning of the day, during the programming day and at the end of the day  by being constantly engaged with the participants during programming time  by integrating within the groups and facilitating learning opportunities  by ensuring every participant is given the assistance needed to be at the very least physically integrated into every activity  by leading with and sustaining enthusiasm in all interactions with participants, team members, management and visitors throughout the programming day  by approaching all situations with a positive attitude and sustaining the positive attitude throughout the day * Assisting the Program Manager(s) and co-workers to ensure Title 17 and Title 22 compliance standards are met at all times  by carrying out compliance checks for/with management as requested  by ensuring all areas related to participant safety and staff safety are attended to immediately  by ensuring the programming schedule is adhered  by ensuring participants are given every opportunity to actively participate in their respective daily schedules * Provide hands on assistance to participants requiring help with basic daily living needs including eating, drinking, toileting, mobility, hygiene, etc. Empower Academy, LLC – updated February 2024  by knowing the various basic daily living needs of each participant  by being ready and prepared to provide the assistance in a timely manner  by ensuring the assistance given is done in a respectful, positive and caring manner  by utilizing only, the techniques approved by management at all times * Timely, effective, and appropriate communication with the Program Managers, Program Administrators, Program Assistants, Program Instructors, Program Drivers and Program Aides  ensuring program and participant objectives are being addressed and/or met  ensuring that pertinent information is shared effectively and efficiently * Work with participant volunteers and vocational employees to ensure Program Area is clean and safe at all times  by assisting them as needed/requested  by pointing out and/or helping them to avoid any hazards or safety issues  by being aware of the special needs certain participants may have to successfully and safely perform their vocational duties * Perform necessary cleaning and maintenance to ensure Program Area is safe and clean at all times  by performing all assigned duties in a timely and safe manner at all times  by communicating to management and/or co-workers anytime an assigned duty cannot be completed to ensure the task is completed  by recognizing and responding to any hazard – no matter how minor – immediately and verifying it has been taken care of or is being taken care of  by showing initiative when something needs to be cleaned, replaced or handled for safety reasons * Make positive contact with every participant every day and provide support to all participants as needed to ensure optimal programming delivery as well as the participant’s safety and care needs are met throughout the entire day  by attempting to personally greet every participant at the beginning of the day  by acknowledging all participants throughout the programming day  by ensuring participants are given appropriate levels of support/prompts to ensure they are in the correct locations at the correct times  by ensuring any information or property of the participant’s (funds, meds, food etc.) is properly cared for and accounted for  by ensuring the participant is assisted with belongings and any special requests/needs during the transition at the end of the programming day up until the time the participant has boarded their mode of transportation * Direct supervision of all participants assigned to specific program area during activity time, of all participants in/around program area during non-activity time and of all participants at all times while in a community-based setting  by arriving to work fully alert and capable of keeping focus on participant movement and needs for the entire work shift  by arriving to work on time and communicating with management/co-workers as needed to ensure critical information (participant, staff and/or programming) is shared and understood regarding expectations for the day  by maintaining awareness of all participants movements and attitudes throughout the day in order to identify a need to intervene/assist before an incident/issue arises  by being able to identify potential hazards to participants before they arise and performing the necessary physical and/or verbal cues to prevent avoidable incidents to participant and/or staff  by ensuring all participants are being given the appropriate level of support/prompts/assistance to ensure most appropriate level of prompts are being abided by to the best of the participants’ ability Empower Academy, LLC – updated February 2024 * Ability to appropriately respond to an individual who is experiencing a behavioral episode and/or exhibiting signs of escalation, including evasion and protection of self and others, as appropriate for the particular participant(s) involved  by being prepared at all times to initiate evasion and/or de-escalation strategies  by being prepared to avoid physical contact with the participant unless there is no alternative  by being prepared to assist participants and other staff in evading physical contact  by effective and timely communication with staff members asking for assistance and/or collaboration as needed  by observing closely all factors involved and being able to effectively and accurately communicate/report the facts to management and/or case managers as needed  by understanding each participant’s behavioral challenges and the environmental triggers that may cause them in order to implement pro-active strategies to prevent the need to evade and/or de-escalate * Ability to effectively work in a one on one, small group or large group capacity with any/all participants providing support to him/her/them on activity completion, activity inclusion and/or their/their special needs  by being willing/ready/prepared/able to work effectively and professionally with any member of the staff team at anytime  by being comfortable working with and knowledgeable of all participants  by being ready/prepared to respond pro-actively and positively to an activity leader’s directions * Ability to effectively lead and/or facilitate a small group or large group participant activity  by being willing/ready/prepared/able to work effectively and professionally with any member of the staff team at anytime  by being able to use vocal and physical cues to effectively engage all participants  by being able effectively utilize staff members who are in a support role * Strict adherence to all policies and procedures stated in the development and growth in various employment / preemployment skills  by being competent in leading/directing/facilitating activities for participants.  by being competent in providing leadership/guidance to staff members serving in a support role  by being competent in writing an outcome based individualized plan that meets the needs of the individual being served. * Perform necessary documentation (daily documentation, case notes, etc.) as assigned/required  by knowing which participants you are responsible for  by completing necessary documentation legibly and providing assistance to individuals.  by collaborating with the participant and their support network.  by ensuring participants are given optimal support to achieve desired outcomes * Provide training/guidance/support to newly hired and/or current team members in the areas of effective activity implementation, participant engagement and participants special needs  by ensuring new team members are aware of the specific types of learning styles of each participant  by ensuring new team members are aware of specific strategies in place to optimize the learning experience of each participant ADDITIONAL EXPECTATIONS * Use of sound judgment at all times * Ability to follow written and verbal directions in English * Ability to speak clearly and succinctly in English and in a manner that can be heard across a room through normal noise levels of the Day Program environment * Ability to effectively use basic computer programs (MS Office, Internet, Email) * Ability to type documents (approx. 30 words per minute) and save to appropriate locations * Ability to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods of time throughout the entire work day * Ability to lift and carry up to 25lbs independently * Ability to offer exceptional customer service to staff members, participants, family members, care providers, Regional Center representatives, community members and others * Participation in all staff meetings and trainings per request of management or be able to acquire meeting/training materials and demonstrate adequate knowledge and understanding of materials

  • QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS * Must be a minimum of 18 years old at the time of hire * Proof of clearance through the FBI and Department of Justice via Livescan * Department of Motor Vehicle Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) * Possession of a current certificate in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). * Possession of a current certificate in Standard First aid (SFA). * Proof of passing a pre-placement physical and back assessment. * Proof of negative TB test within the past twelve (12) months
