Janitorial Supervisor

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Janitorial Supervisor to ensure a clean, safe environment at Picatinny Arsenal while meeting contractual obligations. This role involves training, supervising, and motivating individuals with disabilities to perform cleaning tasks in accordance with standards and expectations successfully. 

Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise employees to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and government regulations.
• Establish a safe work environment and make necessary accommodations or recommendations.
• Assist the Project Manager in coordinating employees to meet daily contractual obligations.
• Transport employees to designated buildings.
• Provide timely feedback on employee performance.
• Communicate with building managers to ensure employee performance meets standards.
• Monitor supply usage across buildings.
• Provide individualized instruction and train employees in the safe use of chemicals, tools, and equipment. 
• Collaborate with the Employment Support Professionals to make job accommodations and adaptations.
• Clean and maintain floors, windows, tables, chairs, restrooms, and equipment.
• Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste in accordance with safety protocols.
• Follow established cleaning procedures and safety guidelines.

Required Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Two years of experience in the custodial field.
• Valid driver's license.
• Must speak English and have excellent communication skills. 
• First aid/CPR certification or willingness to learn.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organization and planning skills.
• Excellent ability to handle multiple tasks.
• A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and in a team with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work under stress and maintain an even temperament
• Excellent frustration tolerance and adaptability.
• Knowledge of proper and safe use of equipment in performing general cleaning tasks.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience working with adults with disabilities.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

This position requires regular communication, including speaking and listening. The work environment is indoors and outdoors, with exposure to cleaning chemicals and varying temperatures depending on the area. Travel between sites may require outdoor exposure to various weather conditions. The position involves frequent movement, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 40 pounds. Required to talk or hear in person and by telephone; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms. Cleaners must be able to work independently, maintain attention to detail, and follow established cleaning procedures in a timely manner. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is generally low to moderate; however, there are occasional loud sounds.
