Job Title: Machinist
Position Summary:
The Machinist is responsible for fabricating and repairing precision aerospace component parts using a variety of machining and manufacturing methods. The incumbent operates CNC, Vertical Turning Lathes (VTL), milling machines, lathes, and other related equipment to produce high-quality parts that meet engineering specifications and production schedules. This position requires strong attention to detail, technical skill, and the ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up, operate, and maintain CNC machines, VTLs, mills, and lathes to produce precision aerospace components.
- Perform machining operations to tight tolerances in accordance with blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
- Inspect parts to ensure quality standards and dimensional accuracy are met.
- Fabricate, repair, or modify parts as required using appropriate tools and machining techniques.
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Work on various assignments as directed by leadership and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Accurately document production activities, part measurements, and maintenance records.
Qualifications:
- Education/Training: Technical training or certification in machining (college, trade school, or program) required.
- Experience:
- Minimum 2–3 years' experience operating machining equipment such as CNC, VTL, milling, or lathes (required).
- Experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment (preferred).
- Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient in reading blueprints and technical drawings.
- Skilled with hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and manufacturing equipment.
- Strong time management and attention to detail.
- Ability to follow instructions, work independently, and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
