Position Summary
The HR Generalist, employed by HR MGMT 10 LLC as the Employer of Record, will play a key role in supporting HR operations across our partnered cannabis and wellness brands. This role serves as a primary HR contact for employees and managers at Headquarters, offering hands-on support in employee relations, onboarding, recruitment coordination, performance processes, benefits administration, compliance, and day-to-day HR operations.
The HR Generalist will partner closely with the Chief People Officer to ensure a smooth, professional, and compliant employee experience across multiple locations. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, highly organized, and confident managing sensitive matters with discretion. Experience in a fast-paced, multi-site environment is highly preferred.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Employee Relations & HR Support

Serve as the first line of support for employees regarding HR-related questions, policies, concerns, and workplace matters.

Assist in addressing employee relations issues, conducting preliminary fact-finding, and escalating as appropriate to the HRBP.

Strengthen communication between employees and leadership to promote a positive, supportive, and compliant work environment.

Support performance management processes, including documentation, coaching tools, and corrective action workflows.
Payroll & Timecard Management

Oversee timecard review and approval workflows to ensure accuracy and compliance with wage and hour regulations.

Assist the HRBP with payroll submissions, corrections, and audits to ensure timely and error-free payroll processing.

Troubleshoot payroll or timekeeping discrepancies in partnership with managers and employees.
Recruitment, Hiring & Onboarding

Support the Recruiter by coordinating interview scheduling, posting roles, managing candidate communication, and assisting with initial screening logistics when needed.
- Partner with the Recruiter and hiring managers to ensure a smooth, consistent, and professional candidate experience throughout the interview and onboarding process.

Lead onboarding logistics: prepare new hire paperwork, facilitate Day 1 orientation, coordinate technology and facility access, and ensure a seamless transition into the company.

Maintain compliance with I-9 documentation, E-Verify requirements, and personnel file accuracy.
HR Administration & Recordkeeping

Maintain and update personnel records, organizational charts, and HRIS data to ensure accuracy and confidentiality.

Prepare routine HR reports including headcount, turnover, attendance trends, and compliance audits.

Assist in documenting and improving HR processes, SOPs, and workflow updates.
Compliance & Policy Enforcement

Ensure consistent implementation of HR policies across all partnered locations.

Monitor compliance with California labor laws, cannabis industry requirements, wage and hour rules, and company standards.

Support internal audits and external regulatory reviews as necessary.

Partner with the HRBP to ensure policy updates are communicated and reinforced across the organization.
Benefits & Leave Administration

Assist employees with benefits questions, enrollment, life event changes, and issue resolution.

Support leave of absence processes including documentation, tracking, and communication aligned with FMLA, CFRA, PDL, and company policy.

Coordinate with payroll and managers to ensure accurate leave and benefits data.
Employee Engagement & Culture Initiatives

Support company-wide engagement efforts including recognition programs, events, surveys, and wellness initiatives.

Contribute to culture-building programs that reinforce employee satisfaction and retention.

Assist with new location openings, hiring surges, or brand launches as needed.
HR Projects & Cross-Functional Initiatives

Partner with the CPO on department-wide initiatives, process improvements, and special projects.

Collaborate with Operations, Payroll, Compliance, and Management to support business growth and HR scalability.

Assist in implementing systems, training programs, and tools that enhance HR effectiveness and employee experience.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.

3–5 years of HR experience preferred, ideally in a multi-site or fast-paced environment.

Strong working knowledge of HR practices, California labor laws, and compliance requirements.

Exceptional communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to maintain confidentiality with high professionalism.

Proficiency in HRIS systems, payroll platforms, and Microsoft Office (Excel proficiency required).

Experience in cannabis, retail, manufacturing, or CPG environments is a plus.
Requirements

Must be 21 years old.

Must pass a criminal background check.

Ability to obtain and maintain any state-required HR certifications within the cannabis industry.

Ability to perform typical office tasks: sitting, standing, reaching, and using computer equipment for extended periods.
