Job Title: Quality Control Lab Chemist Technician

Position Summary:
The Quality Control Lab Chemist Technician is responsible for conducting chemical, physical, and microbiological tests on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished food and beverage products. This role ensures that all products meet internal quality standards, regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, USDA), and customer expectations. The technician plays a key role in maintaining product safety, consistency, and compliance throughout the production process.
Key Responsibilities:

Perform routine quality tests such as pH, Brix, moisture content, acidity, color, and viscosity on food and beverage products.

Use analytical instruments such as spectrophotometers, refractometers, titrators, and balances.

Prepare and standardize reagents and solutions used for quality testing.

Conduct microbiological testing (if applicable), including swabbing, plating, and incubating samples.

Accurately document and analyze test results using laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and standard forms.

Support root cause investigations for non-conforming products and assist with corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).

Work closely with production and sanitation teams to maintain hygienic practices and ensure compliance with HACCP and GMP standards.

Calibrate and maintain lab instruments and report any issues or deviations.

Participate in sensory evaluations and shelf-life testing, when required.

Assist in internal audits, inspections, and regulatory compliance activities.
Qualifications:

Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific field.

1 year of lab experience in a food or beverage manufacturing environment preferred.

Knowledge of food safety standards (e.g., HACCP, GMP, FDA, USDA regulations).

Familiarity with lab instrumentation and techniques relevant to food testing.

Strong attention to detail and ability to follow SOPs and regulatory guidelines.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with LIMS or similar data entry platforms is a plus.

Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Working Conditions:

Laboratory and production floor environment; may involve standing for extended periods and handling food ingredients and chemicals.

Must adhere to food safety and PPE requirements.

Schedule may include weekends, holidays, or shifts, depending on production needs.
