Senior Design Engineer

We’re hiring a Senior Design Engineer!

Join our client's team to lead the design and development of advanced mechanical components and brazed assemblies for aerospace and defense applications. You’ll own the full product lifecycle—from concept through production—focusing on precision-machined parts, high-temperature brazing, and DFM/DFA optimization.

Responsibilities:

• Lead mechanical design efforts for machined parts and brazed assemblies using CAD tools.
• Apply engineering fundamentals to develop robust, lightweight, and thermally/mechanically efficient designs compliant with aerospace and defense standards.
• Define and develop joint designs for high-temperature brazing, ensuring joint geometry, clearances, and material compatibility meet design and manufacturing requirements.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, and materials engineering to ensure designs are manufacturable and cost-effective.
• Generate and maintain complete engineering documentation, including drawings, BOMs, specifications, and test plans.
• Conduct FEA and tolerance analysis to validate design performance and durability under operating conditions (thermal, structural, vibrational).
• Lead or contribute to design reviews, root cause investigations, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Interface with customers and suppliers on technical issues, design intent, and product requirements.
• Ensure all designs adhere to applicable industry regulations and standards.

Qualifications:

• BS in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related engineering field
• 5 years in aerospace/defense mechanical design
• Expertise in precision machining, GD&T, brazing and brazed assemblies
• Proficient in 3D CAD and FEA; familiar with AS9100 and ITAR
• Experience with vacuum/dip brazing, thermal stress analysis, and defense programs
