Our client is a major transportation agency responsible for connecting communities and supporting mobility across the DC region. The Leave Specialist will manage comprehensive FMLA, ADA, Leave, WCC, and Short Term Disability processes, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and organizational policies. This role involves reviewing medical documentation, approving or denying leaves, and counseling employees and management on leave rights and responsibilities.
This is a full-time position based in Hyattsville, MD, paying $45.16 per hour. This is a contract position.
Responsibilities:
- Manage full-cycle FMLA processes in accordance with federal, state, and organizational guidelines.
- Review medical documentation and assess eligibility for leave.
- Approve or deny FMLA cases based on medical information.
- Coordinate and organize medical data, ensuring HIPAA compliance and employee confidentiality.
- Counsel employees, supervisors, and management regarding FMLA rights, responsibilities, and leave procedures.
- Review current leave practices and recommend improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
- Maintain detailed communication with stakeholders throughout the leave process.
Qualifications:
- 3 to 5 years of experience in FMLA administration.
- Full-cycle corporate FMLA experience.
- Knowledge of ADA, leave laws, WCC, and Short Term Disability processes.
- Ability to work accurately at a fast pace, handling over 4,000 cases annually.
- Strong understanding of medical review process and HIPAA regulations.
- Excellent communication and confidentiality skills.
- Certifications or technical skills related to HR and leave management preferred.
