Our client is a major transportation agency responsible for connecting communities and supporting mobility across the DC region. The Graphic Designer will develop and design layouts for various mediums, including print and digital, with a focus on clear messaging for diverse audiences. This role involves transforming creative briefs into visual products such as illustrations, publications, and visual aids, collaborating with cross-disciplinary teams to generate innovative communication solutions.
This is a full-time position based in Washington, DC, paying $52.00 per hour. It is a contract position.
Responsibilities
- Develop and design layouts for print and digital media that communicate clear themes and messages.
- Create visual content including illustrations, maps, and signs to support station signage and wayfinding systems.
- Collaborate with copywriters, videographers, research teams, and project managers to brainstorm and execute creative solutions.
- Assist with the production and finalization of visual communications, ensuring adherence to mobile-first best practices.
- Organize and store creative assets within digital asset management systems.
- Contribute to iterative design processes, rethinking solutions, and gaining stakeholder buy-in.
Qualifications
- Minimum of five years demonstrated experience in graphic and multimedia design, preferably within an agency or in-house team.
- Strong UX and graphic design expertise, with a focus on cartography/map design preferred.
- Transit industry experience is a plus.
- Proficiency with design tools and digital asset management systems.
- Ability to interpret creative briefs and collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams.
- Experience with iterative design methods and stakeholder engagement.
