Examples of Duties
- Supervises, trains, and reviews the work of staff responsible for performing a variety of repairs and duties involved in the maintenance of City streets or parks to ensure accuracy, proper work methods, techniques and compliance with applicable standards and specifications;
- Prepares maintenance schedules according to priority and staffing availability;
- Maintains maintenance program to insure proper maintenance activities, reporting, and schedules are being followed;
- Ensures assigned staff operates in compliance with City, State, and Federal rules, regulations and policies;
- Coordinates and schedules maintenance projects, prepares work orders, monitors job progress, ensures compliance with project specifications and budget;
- Oversees the use, care, and operation of maintenance equipment;
- Oversees the use of safety equipment in accordance with safe work practices and procedures as well as City, State and Federal guidelines;
- Oversees the work of contracted staff, reviews plans, materials and specifications, ensures work is performed in accordance with City and mandated specifications and contractual obligations;
- Oversees primary and follow-up contact with both vendors and customers;
- Follows and oversees proper procedures for purchasing goods and materials;
- Prepares and maintains records and reports on work performed including maintenance requests, operations and maintenance, time sheets, accident reports and related documents;
- Reports and responds to citizen questions and complaints;
- Writes specifications for tools, equipment, supplies and materials;
- Compiles necessary information and makes recommendations to supervisory/executive level staff; and
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent;
- Associate Degree or equivalent in related field desired.
Experience:
- Three years of responsible experience in the maintenance of city streets, parks, and/or facilities
- Some lead experience in the maintenance field.
Licenses and Certificates:
- Possess and maintain an appropriate, valid California driver's license;
Special Requirements:
- Ability to work in a standard office environment; ability to travel to different sites and locations;
- Regularly required to talk or hear. Required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms;
- Ability to walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, crawl, twist, sit, climb or balance;
- Exposure to heat, noise, outdoors, vibration, confining work space, chemicals, mechanical hazards, and electrical hazards;
- Ability to lift and push files, reports, or other materials weighing up to 80 pounds.
