GENERAL SUMMARY:
At the direction of the Clinic Supervisor/ Manager and in collaboration with the Employee Health Physician, coordinates activities relating to employees' health, pre-employment and annual health screenings, work related injuries, including triage and first aid care of injuries, illnesses, and/or exposures to communicable or infectious diseases and hazardous materials. Provides assistance in the identification of health risk areas and the promotion of employee education programs and research and quality assurance relating to safety and good health practices.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Establishes and maintains Employee Health Clinic records on all Henry Ford employees, students, volunteers, and physicians. Maintains confidentiality of all records.
2. Establishes and coordinates communication with departments within the Henry Ford Hospital system that have integral relationships with theEmployee Health Clinic.
3. Conducts pre-employment and annual health screening, which may include vital signs, phlebotomies, respirator fit testing, urine drug screening, color vision screening, and immunizations.
4. Conducts Reasonable Suspicion, urine drug screening, and alcohol testing.
5. Reviews and recognizes normal and abnormal lab reports and chest x-rays, with follow-up as needed.
6. Enters all data into appropriate computer systems.
7. Counsels employees regarding immunizations.
8. Conducts Animal Handler F/U yearly program.
9. Investigates, coordinates, counsels, and ensures follow-up care for work-related injuries/ illnesses. Provides appropriate data for OSHA log,
communicates/collaborates with Worker's Comp and RTW program administrators providing written documentation as needed.
10.Performs assessment within scope of training to triage level of injury for urgency of treatment or referral to Emergency Department.
11.Provides basic first aid to injured employees.
12.Attends Grand Rounds with Providers, Workers Compensation, and Safety as needed.
13.Collaborates with MRO regarding standing orders/protocols.
14.Reviews Respirator Questionnaire and evaluates employees with medical conditions to determine eligibility prior to Respirator Fit Test.
15.Delegates and supervises other licensed and unlicensed health care personnel in cooperation with and in the absence of Clinic Manager.
16.Directs and promotes adherence to Henry Ford Hospital policy, procedures, and standards of nursing care. Identifies need for development, writes and/or revises policies, procedures, and standards of nursing care.
17.Actively participates in the development and implementation of unit competencies. Provides in-services to staff as needed.
18.Conducts and participates in Employee Health Clinic Quality Improvement initiatives, using research-based knowledge for nursing practice.
19.Travels to various Henry Ford facilities to conduct annual exams, testing, screening, and administering follow-up as appropriate.
20.Maintains the duties and responsibilities of an exposure nurse. Conducts follow-up as needed.
21.Completes other duties and responsibilities as seen necessary or delegated by the supervisor or Employee Health Physician.
22.Other employee health related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Registered Nurse - graduate from an approved school of nursing required.
Bachelor of Science graduate from an approved school of nursing preferred.
Minimum of two (2) years nursing experience required.
Basic computer skills and excellent problem-solving skills required.
Occupational Medicine experience preferred.
Knowledge in People Soft, Epic, Word, and Excel preferred.
LICENSURES AND CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
RN in the State of Michigan and BCLS certification required.
Preferred certification in Urine and Alcohol collection, and TB testing.
