This role plays a critical part in ensuring that materials, components, and services are sourced in a timely, cost-effective manner that aligns with company standards for quality and delivery. The Purchaser II operates with a high degree of independence, collaborates cross-functionally, and drives continuous improvement in supply chain processes. This position requires strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills, as well as a solid understanding of manufacturing environments and MRP/ERP systems.

The Purchaser II operates with a high degree of independence, collaborates cross-functionally, and drives continuous improvement in supply chain processes. This position requires strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills, as well as a solid understanding of manufacturing environments and MRP/ERP systems.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- A High School diploma or equivalent is required. A BS or AA degree is preferred. Any APICS or NAPM training and/or certification is desirable.
- This position requires a minimum of 1-3 years of experience in purchasing. Hands-on experience with procurement using a formal MRP system is a must. Additional experience working with new product introductions or engineering projects is a plus. Familiarity with electronics manufacturing is preferred. Understanding of inventory control methods and production control techniques is also preferred.
- Ability to read and understand MRP reports
- Ability to use a formal MRP system to review time-phased requirements
- Familiarity with commercial electronics building practices and components is desired
- Take responsibility for establishing and maintaining positive relationships with qualified Suppliers
- Ability to read blueprints
- Ability to negotiate terms and pricing for materials and services
- Ability to review cost/quantity choices and make cost effective decisions
- Ability to work with windows based personal computers
- Must be able to work with a minimum of supervision
- Must have good oral and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers and Supplier.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Must be able to work with engineering to define optimal procurement solutions and effectively implement changes.
- Familiar with Procurement supporting government flow downs with experience in FARS, Terms and Conditions, and Quality requirements.
